(More customer reviews)I bought this unit a month ago and had a good opportunity to check it out well. Im actually giving it 4 stars overall based on my feeling of it at this stage after Ive beefed it up. Ill start with some issues. First I would like to say that the sound quality is not on the level of the Panasonic double din in the same category. The 5 band eq system doesnt give the type of clarity you expect. I suppose its a Sony and their forte is not reallllly stereos. It doesn't push the highs and lows much more over the stock double din that I replaced it with. 2nd the navigation around the unit is a little cumbersome. At times you push buttons and it beeps but doesn't switch to the screen you need etc. Also when you want to do simple things like change the clock or preset radio buttons you can[t really figure it out on your own and end up having to grab the damn manual to review the multiple steps and screens you need to push etc. On top of that my bluetooth phone wouldnt identify the unit and I am still working through trying to sink it.
The Good: The system if properly set up and learned overall is a good buy. Aside from the issues listed above I really like the video quality. It is much better than any other double din system I've tested. I suppose this is more Sony's area of expertise and it shows. To get over the average sound quality I installed a separate amp and box sub under my back seat which improved the overall sound experience 100%. Now the stereo rocks and movies are pretty fine as well for the kids watching from the back seat with loud theater banging sound effect. I've also memorized the correct buttons to push to navigate through the cumbersome screens to make that issue mute and have been starting to enjoy my purchase.
Overall for the money it is a good buy. If you are into top notch sound quality you may want to go Kenwood, or Panasonic double din. However I am happy overall with the buy. You will too it just takes a little patients to learn the navigation platform and some beefing up of the stereo to make it a good buy.
