(More customer reviews)Except for the base (that broke immediately on both units) it's fairly well designed and is pretty small in size. I guess that's really the only good thing I can say about it.
I thought I was purchasing these communicators for $119 each, but it ends up that they are two per box - making them about $60 each...and I'm not sure they are worth that much.
The bluetooth is cheap and sounds tinny when you can hear it at all. I used it a bit with my GPS and missed the first several words almost every time. My dad said his GPS hadn't said anything for "hours" even though it should have been chatting up a storm. Later diagnosis revealed that bluetooth on both devices were correctly configured and the volume was properly set.
The bike-to-bike (or bike to passenger) communication is very "gravelly" and difficult to understand, the speakers are too quiet and the microphone picks up too much wind (and other ambient) noise.
After attaching one device to my helmet and another to my dad's, the base of the device that attaches to to helmet broke on his within 4 hours and mine broke within a day. A bit of double sided tape took care of it, but that assumes you don't mind kludging a brand new device. The plastic piece that fits over the antenna (and supposedly makes the device weatherproof) came off of mine the same day.
We both wore half-helmets with visors down and could not understand each other at 50 MPH and could not hear each other at 75 MPH. They worked fairly well at about 30 MPH but were still difficult to understand because they were so gravelly. Maybe someone with a full face helmet would have better luck. For the record: I do not have loud pipes, so that isn't even taken into consideration in this review.
The instruction manual was clearly printed in China and makes little sense to a native English speaker. After reading the manual twice, I had to experiment quite a bit to figure out how to operate them.
I sorely wish I would have spent my money elsewhere and now that I have a couple of week-old broken units, there's probably little chance at getting my money back. Learn from my mistake and keep shopping...
