(More customer reviews)My wife and I love the phone. It works as expected on T-Mobile (US) network.
We like the features, we don't like the branding. The phone we received, while unlocked was still branded to the '3' carrier network from the UK. Most of the applications and features installed on the phone are tied to the '3' network. Custom configuration allowed us to set up handlers for t-mobile wap connectivity, which is required to access t-mobile web and MMS messaging. However the pre-installed gmail agent or Google maps still default to the 3 network to access the service, which of course errors out because we are not 3 subscribers. These apps and features are not removable, or editable. One other problem is that because it was not preloaded, the t-mobile email messaging capabilities are not supported, meaning that in order to access email I need to connect to wi-fi and run the internet email client. This presents a problem when wanting to check email on the road, because the whole idea was to not have to have a data plan. T-mobile provides free email messaging as part of our messaging package that uses a proxy agent on a tmobile branded phone to access email. Agreed, I knew going in that this was not going to have t-mobiles software on it, so it's not fair to complain about that now, but I was expecting the installed software to be customizable to work with whatever connection I want it to, not be locked to the 3 network.
I'm doing some looking into debranding the phone, but I'm honestly not sure if I want to attempt it and possibly damage my investment with no way back if I fry it.
Anyway, just wish someone had told me up front it was branded, thought I'd pass it on.
