Beautiful phone with all the features you'd ever want. Except one ** DEAL BREAKER ** for me.
Our company receives many phone calls a day in which the caller hangs up during the recorded greeting of the answering machine. This phone cannot recognize a hang up, and proceeds to record a 5-sec "blank" message. (Yes, it's 2011... and all my previous answering machines of the past 20 years could do this). So we're left to wade through the blank messages and delete (which takes some skill... because your waiting for a voice but must press delete before the next message replays... small window to nail it.)
I emailed AT&T and was given a reply to call their tech support. Their answer was "It is the normal behavior of this phone NOT to recognize hang ups." I asked if this could be fixed with a future firmware update... Nope.

RCA ViSYS 2-line Corded/Cordless Expandable System with Digital Answering System (25255RE2) Review

RCA ViSYS 2-line Corded/Cordless Expandable System with Digital Answering System (25255RE2)
Average Reviews:

I usually don't write reviews but I had to for this purchase as there aren't many reviews for this really great phone. I've spent a great deal of time researching 2-line phones and all the various features for my small business. I even tried a few of the big brand name phones before I ended up with this one. I tried the Panasonic DECT 6.0 2-line comparable phone, which has no caller ID when you're on one line and another call comes in. Then I tried the Uniden DECT 6.0 2-line comparable phone, which has awful sound quality and a piercing echo sound when you speak into the phone. I was apprehensive about this RCA phone since there weren't any reviews but tried it anyway because of all the features. I'm so glad I did -- it's the best phone I've tried and/or read about so far.
Pros:
Set up was easy
DND/privacy (rare to find this on a 2-line phone)
Caller ID - easy to access and see (with the panasonic you had to hit 3 buttons to access)
Call waiting
2 line voice mail
wireless headset that's so comfortable! -- BIG BONUS! easy setup & use, comfortable
Great sound quality and range
Looks great - sleek and solid, not cheap feeling/looking
Base and cordless phone both have speakerphone
Mute
Hold (rare to find this on a 2-line phone)
Transfer/intercom calls
Cons:
The maximum volume on the wireless/bluetooth headset could be a little louder though this is just a personal preference -- it's actually loud enough but I have construction going on in my building so it would be great if it was a bit louder.
Another small nuance is that you have to use the base phone to dial out when using the headset (wished you could use the cordless phone to dial). Minor inconvenience.
The only comparable multi-line phone that has all the rich features of a true office phone would cost thousands of dollars and I wasn't willing to spend that much for a small office. This is a great phone and the price is simply a bonus.

Siemens Gigaset Additional Handset for SL785 Only (SL78H) Review

Siemens Gigaset Additional Handset for SL785 Only (SL78H)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought 3 SL78H handsets to work with the SL785. These are fantastic. The size and appearance makes them a great addition to any desktop or nightstand. The digital time display changes to just the time and dims after a few moments so it does not leave a bright light glowing and keeping you awake. Alternatively, you can set the display to show an analog clock (one with hands).
Voice quality is fantastic, features are comprehensive, and the range is excellent. The built-in phone book allows you to have multiple numbers associated with each entry, e.g., home, mobile, work, and by using the included software which can download your Outlook contacts to the phone book, you can program bypass numbers for 3rd party international service providers. This is the 2nd Gigaset telephone system I have had and I bought these new models as soon as they were available in the United States.
While a "package" of the base and additional handsets might be a bit pricey when compared to other wireless telephones the Gigaset system is worth every cent.

Panasonic KX-TG6583T 3-handset Link-To-Cell Bluetooth Phone With Two Expansion Handsets Bundle Review

Panasonic KX-TG6583T 3-handset Link-To-Cell Bluetooth Phone With Two Expansion Handsets Bundle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This unit has every-single-feature-you-could-use, and more. It is exactly the same as the other KX-TG6583T with three handsets total, except this supplier has added-in 2 extra handsets! This was perfect for me as I bought two sets (which was cheaper at that time than buying 2 or 3 extra ones) to have the extra handsets I wanted. This price is a great deal!
You don't need the phone company to block numbers, this machine does it for you, along with pairing up TWO cell's that have Bluetooth and your cordless Bluetooth earphone! Just pair your cell and you can transfer the directory from it to this unit's directory...a great feature, along with being able to answer your cell from any handset in the house. Panasonic doesn't bundle this unit in larger than three handsets, so at this price for 5, it is a steal!
I have used this unit three months now without one complaint. Why not get all technologies rolled into one, and have the convenience of the extra cell line to use when someone else has your main line tied up? The distance is great, I have used this system in city and country, and you can even get an extender from Panasonic, but this phone with DECT Plus covers the two acres I live on just fine.
Here are the advantages of this unit, some of them already noted by others,IMO:
1. The handsets have a jack for wired headsets.
2. There is a keypad and speakerphone in the base, so it functions as a fourth phone.
3. The interface with your providers voicemail (the voicemail service I use is from Vonage) is more comprehensive and easier to use than what you get from Vtech, Uniden or AT&T. For example, a light flashes when I have a message and the alert disappears automatically when I've heard all the messages. The VTech required you to go through a process to erase the alert after you've heard your messages.
4. The Bluetooth connection is like a microwave. Once you use it, you won't ever want to go without. You can even pair this unit with your wireless Bluetooth headset!
5. Call block. Get a call from a number you don't want to hear from again? Panasonic handles that! You merely save that number to your blocked list, and forever after anyone calling from that number gets a "busy" signal. No need to pay extra for that service from your provider.
6. It will transfer your cell's phone book to this unit easily!
7. The range is outstanding. I live on 2+ acres, and have never encountered a dead spot or fading.
8. Plug the units base into your UPS that you have for your computer, and it will never be without service in a power outage.
9. You can push a button when on a call, and lock-out other extensions from listening in on your call.
10. The talking caller ID is great when you are busy in the kitchen or working on a project.
11. The answering machine, for those of you who still use them instead of voice mail, has the longest recording time out there, 18 minutes.
I saw that Consumer Reports recommended the AT&T, and I previously had one of theirs and was happy with it. However their reviews were done nearly a year before this unit came to market in March, 2010, and given the Bluetooth edge, this is the best cordless phone for your money. It is smaller in size than cordless phones of the past, very similar in size and weight to a cell.

Siemens Gigaset Designer Digital Cordless Phone with Color Display, Bluetooth Connectivity and Answering System (SL785) Review

Siemens Gigaset Designer Digital Cordless Phone with Color Display, Bluetooth Connectivity and Answering System (SL785)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've gone through a number of dissatisfying $100 Panasonic 2.4GHz phones, and tried a Philips VOIP841 (terribly scratchy audio), and decided that maybe I should just buy a higher end model to get some actual quality.
I bought this and an extra handset (SL78H), and I am generally happy with its performance. Our apartment is 70' x 21', in an old brownstone with numerous plaster/brick walls. I originally had the basestation in our home-office at one end of the apartment, and was experiencing some drop off at the other side of the house. I corrected this by moving the basestation into the next room over, so now it's fine at 55' in one direction, and 15' in the other.
The audio is very good, and of course the styling is nice, too. Here are my issues with the phone:
1) The Caller ID list shows numbers and when, but NOT names. You have to further scroll and click on an entry to see name details. The screen is so high resolution, the phone could easily have a third line of info or be more efficient with space. There is a LOT of dead space in the call list.
2) From the screensaver, getting the in/out call list requires a minimum of **4** clicks, and optionally a scroll, to get to. This is ridiculous, and should have a soft or hard key from the "home" screen
3) Only one handset can view the call list at a time. If one handset is looking at the call list, the other will just beep at you if you try to do the same.
4) The screensaver should have an option to overlay info like the time/date
5) I bought a Plantronics Voyager Pro specifically to use with this phone. Most of the time it's great and they get along well. But maybe 1 out of 4 times I they unpair, and then I have to actually restart the phone to get them to work together again. I am using them within 4' of each other. The Plantronics works FINE with my Blackberry Bold, never an issue.
6) Wireless transfer over BT is SLOOOOOOOW. Moving a 200K screensaver took like a minute. This is probably a general problem with BT. If you want faster, then you have to remove the back cover (!!!) to get to the USB port.
Now despite those frustrations, I'd still recommend the phone if you don't mind spending the coin. That is, the basestation w/phone plus another phone makes for around $320. It performs better than any other cordless I've had, and looks better, too.

Panasonic KX-TG6645B DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with 5-Handsets Review

Panasonic KX-TG6645B DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with 5-Handsets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, one of the reviews above states they have used these phones for years, but this series was first shipped in May 2011, so this review must be for a prior generation. And it is important, because this series has a lot of pluses that the prior generations did not have.
Second, we have used Panasonic phones (with very few exceptions) since their old wired phones! This product is replacing an earlier generation wireless series with 4 phones. We had two batteries in the old units starting to fail, so rather than buy replacement batteries for 5 year old phones, I bought this and am not disappointed at all. Some of the key reasons this may be the best Panasonic phone system yet are:
> The screen is so much better to read. I wear reading glasses and the old screens were tough to read without them, but the high contrast, white backlit screens on these phones are so much easier to read!
> The menu systems seem much better. Much of what you want to do is handled by the soft-touch buttons with screen readouts so rather than searching the small text below some of the buttons, the choices are much easier to see on the screen.
> The reception is so much better and covers a longer distance than before. Our old phones (5.8mHz system) would get harder to hear on both ends if we walked to the other end of the house and walking a few steps outside was sure to cause a drop, but this new DECT 6 works anywhere in the home and far outside with no noticeable diminution in sound quality. (Pana makes a range extender optional piece you can add to the system, but I cant see any use we would need for it!)
> One of the best new features is the ability to use one of the handsets for temporary battery backup during a power outage! Most wireless systems go down entirely if there is no power, so if there is an emergency or even a short duration power failure, you cannot call out or receive calls. With this phone, if the power fails but your handset is charged, just putting it in the base station powers it and allows you to call out or receive calls. This feature alone is why I waited a few months for this version to ship. We have had a number of short power outages, but this feature eliminates most of that as an issue.
> We use the phone company's voicemail system so we do not need the recording function, but this phone includes the ability to speed-dial the external voicemail and, more importantly, if there is a message on that system, the Panasonic handsets still show a flashing light to alert you to a message and when you pick up any handset, the screen also shows you there is a voicemail.
There are a lot of other features that we do not use, like the Voice Caller ID that announces who is calling (we don't need the extra noise!) but they worked fine (until I turned this off). So I have to say that this is a great phone system overall. Light weight, easy to use, easy to read - just excellent!

In today's world, the home phone has become increasing unnecessary. I had to get a home phone to aide for the security system, so when I researched some cordless phones, I came across this Panasonic device. I don't care much for a home phone as I have lived without one for several years, but this allows a home phone back in my life.
Link-to-cell is incredible. This feature allows me to answer and make calls using my cell phone. I don't have to search around the house for the cell...just keep it in the same place. Pairing was extremely simple, but you will need to read the instructions to navigate the hidden settings menu and whatnot(this is just a one time thing). I literally walked in the house and it paired automatically in about 30 seconds. The memory holds 3034 contacts. Is that too much? Maybe..but during setup, I just let my phone (Droid Incredible) bluetooth all my 400 contacts over...Again, real simple.
Already lost power-
Phone works great. The base receives power from the charged unit and powers the reception to the other handsets as well. The older panasonic models do not have this feature...
Ringtones-
All the tones and melodies are terrible, but when your cell rings, it can mimic the ringtone which is good. I'm just surprised the technology of ringtones hasn't hit the home phone yet???
Headset-
The fiancee uses a headset, and the manual headset does work with this model. The box claims bt headsets work as well (havent tried it).
Multiple lines-
I can make a call using my cellphone line, and make a call using the landline as well at the same time. So you won't be disrupted if someone clicks in.
The speaker quality and phone reception were fine, in my wi-fi/wireless surround sound/million wireless devices condo.
My review above is geared to what I was interested in this phone. If I missed anything..or you have a question, I would be more than happy to test and find the answer for you.
I am happy with this purchase, and will update this review with features/cool things as I encounter them:)

This is the best Vtech made so far. I have owned other Vtech phones but this one performs better then any other cordless phone I have owned. Far superior to Panasonic and other brands. Sound quality is very good, style is great and the features are very easy to use and technically advanced. I like the fact that I can program one handset with all my phone numbers in the directory and it automatically transfers the directory to all my other handsets. The blue tooth feature works! Now I can answer my cell phone thru this phone system. My house is 2 stories and the range of the handsets reaches every room with no static or interference. Only feature I wish Vtech had on this phone is the warning light they had on some of their earlier models that lets you know when you have a voice mail message waiting. Voice mail messages show up in the lcd display. I just ordered additional handsets for my house since we like this system so much

After thoroughly researching the limited no. of 2-line home phone systems on the market, I purchased the at&t system because it had every feature I was looking for. In addition to blue tooth compatibility, the system is user friendly, easy to set up and simple to operate. Just charge each handset in its charging base for 25 minutes and you're ready to set up the extensions. I bought the base unit which comes with one handset, plus three sets of three more handsets and two individual handsets for a total of 12 remote handsets, which is the max for this system. Other systems were limited to 6 or 8 remote handsets. After set up, I married my iPhone with the base unit and in less than a minute, my entire list of 312 phone contacts were put into the system and I can access my iPhone directary from any handset. The system allows you to make calls and answer call using your cell phone service through the handsets or base. Very cool. You can eliminate your long distance land line costs as most cell phones have free long distance. Oh, one of the main things I wanted was a speaker phone on each handset, which this sysstem has. It's total duplex and people I have spoken with tell me it does not sound like a speaker phone, just as clear as speaking into a handset. Of course, it's all digital 6.0 which prevents interference from my home wifi system and the DECT technology is up to date. I highly recommend this system. It is light years better than the Panasonic system I replaced, which was good for it's time when I bought it 8 years ago. I checked out their new systems but they didn't have the 12 handset capacity. With lithium-ion batteries, it is recommended to keep the handsets in their charging stands, which are black and brushed silver, a really nice combo. Bought through Amazon for the best price. 20% - 30% better than other e-tailers.
