Apple iMac MC509LL/A 21.5-Inch Desktop Review

I anxiously awaited this summer 2010 update to the iMac line.
iMacs offer a better value than one might think, and the space saving they offer compared to having many components spread out on a desk, make them an attractive offering from Apple.
My current iMac was an aging model, summer 2007. The first iMac with aluminum enclosure. Honestly, however, it is not far off the machines of today particularly notebook models. The iMacs are aging nicely, and I'm sure this new model will too. iMacs tend to offer a better value than notebooks and because they aren't carried around, can have better reliability / longevity too.
When I opened this new computer, I loved the widescreen display. This display is 16x9 similar to a television, whereas conventional widescreen computer monitors were 16x10 (including my old iMac). The extra width gives you more room to fit documents across your desktop (screen) while working. I like that.
Furthermore, don't let anyone suggest that this is not a fast computer. Its 3.2 GHZ i3 processor includes hyper threading to give you up to four "virtual," cores. Some argue that this feature isn't useful, or that not enough applications utilize hyper threading. However, I was able to look at CPU usage and see video encoding software on my computer using the multiple threads. It was fast.
I chose the 21.5 inch model because my desk is simply too small to house the 27-inch model. The 27 is absolutely staggering in size. I would choose it, if I had the room, but the 21.5 is far from being a slouch and is somewhat more sensible looking.
It features standard 4GB of memory, which can be easily upgraded to 8GB by buying two additional 2GB sticks. A 1 TB hard drive being standard on this model will be plenty for all but the hard drive pack rats out there. While optical media is less popular today, do not forget this iMac can play DVDs and burn DVDs. Burning DVDs can also be useful to backup important data such as your family photographs. The speed of the drive is satisfactory, and it is the cool slot loading variety.
A SD card slot is located under the DVD drive, to easily load pictures onto your computer direct from your camera's SD card.
Why choose this 1499 model over the entry level 1199 model? Both are actually competent machines. The 1499 model gives you a larger hard drive (1 TB over 500 GB, so twice the size), and it has a faster graphics processor, which is useful when gaming and in other graphic intensive applications. While I chose the 1499 model, the 1199 doesn't lack much, if that final ten tenths of graphic performance and extra hard drive space is not something you believe you will need. Someone who needs the extra graphic performance or hard drive storage, will probably know it, for they are more intensive users.
The iMacs are great values over notebooks, if you don't need portability. You get more performance, more storage, and a massive display by comparison of a MacBook Pro. All at an attractive price.
One of my favorite features? iMacs have included for the past year bluetooth keyboards and mice standard! That means when you take the iMac out of the box, if you have wireless internet, you can be up and running by simply plugging in the power cord. The Magic Mouse and keyboard are both wireless and work flawlessly. They are easier on batteries than you might think too, though they take easy to acquire AAs.
Included software? The latest operating system Mac OS X Snow Leopard is included, plus iLife 09. iLife includes great and useful applications such as iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band.
Someone new to Mac might consider picking up the Student/Teacher/Home edition of Microsoft Office for Mac. It runs beautifully and has a Mac feel to it, despite being a Microsoft product.
My final verdict? I absolutely adored the machine. It was the fastest Mac I had ever used and a solid upgrade over my previous iMac. However, a week into ownership I discovered that the bottom and right side of my screen had a yellow tinge/appearance to it. A white background window, such as Amazon.com page, looked beautiful and white in the top left, but on the rest of the display, it turned yellowish. I had invested so much time transferring my data from my old iMac to my new one. I had to transfer everything back and securely erase the new one before returning it. I didn't want to go through that entire process again, during my busy time of the year, so I just returned it for a refund. Once I have some spare time to go through all the trouble, I will try again. Just be sure to check your display when it arrives because I have read some others having a similar display issue on the Mac Rumors forums.
Overall, this iMac was an impressive update. It features the latest processors, plenty of storage, and this particular model has a strong video card. The display is a great size and aspect ratio, but be sure to check it for the yellowish color when it arrives.

Sony VAIO VPC-EF44FX/BI 17.3-Inch Widescreen Entertainment Laptop (Black) Review

Let me start by saying that I am a road warrior. My laptop is my business. Over the years I've owned laptops by Fujitsu, Toshiba, IBM, Gateway, Dell, HP and a few others. This is my first Sony. I am impressed by the build quality, the features and the pricepoint. My model came with 1920 x 1080 screen, which gives me plenty of real estate for the multi-tasking required in my job. The quad processor lets me tackle any of the business tasks. I am not a gamer, but I suspect that the video memory might not be up to snuff for serious gamers. The only things, really, that differs between this and the Dell XPS are the video memory, lighted keyboard (this does not have one) and the price. I upped my RAM to 8 GB and upped the OS to windows 7 Ultimate and now I have a machine that will last me years. Enough rambling. What I like and dislike about this unit:
Likes:
- Power adapter is relatively small for the size of the unit. HP's is easliy 5 or 6 times larger.
- Power plug is a 90 degree plug, so it is not as likely to get jarred or bumped as one that sticks out from the laptop a few inches.
- Built in bluetooth makes it easy to connect my bluetooth headset and listen to pandora while I work
- Great video resolution, and the LED screen is amazing. Makes my external LCD Samsung monitor not look as good as I thought it did.
- Tactile keyboard. I like the separate keys (similar to the iMac). It just feels like it will last longer than the pop-off keys on other units
- Multi-touch pad is cool, but it takes some getting used to
- 4 USB ports
Dislikes:
- USB ports are towards the front of the laptop, which means the cords get in the way sometimes
- Video port is near the front of the laptop. That cable is huge and gets in the way.
- No switch to turn off the touchpad. Sometimes when I'm typing my hand will hit the touchpad and I'll end up typing in another part of my document. Annoying. HP has a switch to turn the touchpad on and off that is really handy.
- No fingerprint reader. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice.
- No lighted keyboard. Again, not a big deal.
- No customizable buttons to control the media player or launch apps.
- Location of Home, End and Delete keys drives me crazy. The more I use it the more I'll remember where they are.
The weight is what I would expect from a 17" laptop. And the battery life is OK.
In all, I totally recommend this laptop to people who want a solid feature-packed performer for a reasonable price.

This is a nice phone from the reviews on the internet - i bought one from the OEM shop and i am not sure that they are selling new phones I got no manual, just a little booklet with about 4 pages of english, the phone wasnt sealed in even a plastic bag, THe seal was broken and a sticker saying "inspected by OEM Team" All over the phone there appears links and connectivity (Like "KoreaR&D_1" etc) options as though it was used to test the phone, i cant seem to use lgsync, I cant find a manual nor go and get new apps for it anywhere. I dont think this phone is a production phone. i cant change the home page, i really love the phone an i went ahead an bought accessories for it, now i feel as though I bought something that was misrepresented in the advertising - as "new". I wrote them and they did not respond.

Navigon 7200T 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigation with Bluetooth, Text-to-Speech, and Free Traffic Alerts Review

Navigon 7200T 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigation with Bluetooth, Text-to-Speech, and Free Traffic Alerts

I have owned Garmins and Tomtoms. This gps looked very promising. It displays all the info Tomtom displays but Garmin doesn't plus it has a nice bright screen like Garmin, not TT. I was hoping for the best of both.
The good is that the 7200T routes well, no problems there. The lane assist works well although Garmin and Tomtom's implementation is a little better I think. Whereas Navigon displays the static reality few for a long time. Garmin and TT pop it up for a few seconds then go back to showing the lane assist diagram.
The Navigon is very wordy with its verbal instructions which is good. But with all the words, it doesn't speak 90% of the highway exit numbers. It rattles off the town and road, etc, etc but no exit number. What it does do though is display the exit number on the screen. This is ok if you have the eagle eyes. The fonts on the 7200T are tiny. It takes my old eyes 5 - 10 seconds to focus on the screen's small print after driving. It doesn't sound like alot but taking your eyes off the road for that long is dangerous. Don't know why they don't include exit number in the instructions.
The 7200T also displays street names. Unfortunately, every road that is not part of your route is displayed as a pencil line and each road is displayed with its street name in micro font size. Forget about being able to read them.
Another short coming is the 7200T's POI database. It is very small and is missing most national retailers, gyms, health clubs, doctors, dentists and who knows what else. Its POI search is also horribly broken. You have 3 choices. NEARBY - gives you POIs within a very small radius, too small. The next choice is CITY. Unfortunately, you have to know the exact city. Most other brands search NEAR CITY but not this. If the POI you are looking for is actually one town over, you will never find it. If you are in unfamiliar territory and don't know the adjoining citys to search individually, you are out of luck. The third choice is STATE. Most POI categories are not included in STATE so this choice is totally worthless.
On top of this all, the screen sensitivity is not great and the buttons are small. You will have to enter and address multiple times as you tapped the wrong letter or have to tap the same letter multiple times because it didn't pick it up.
So to summarize, it routes well but the screen fonts are so little its dangerous to look at while driving and the whole POI thing is terrible. Maybe a firmware fix will improve font size and change exit number verbal instructions. Maybe new maps will increase POI database size and add good search functionality. Until then, this is just another gps with lots of potential.

KENWOOD KDC-X995 eXcelon In-Dash USB/CD Receiver with Built-In Bluetooth/HD Radio Review

Average Reviews:

First the good features:
-the ipod functionality/control is excellent; easy to scroll through your albums/folders
-great controls for altering speaker balance
-ability to modify color display (14 colors i believe)
-handsfree works great-people cannot tell that im on handsfree. I connected the external mic near the upper left windsheild corner.
-nice looking headunit-piano black finish
-display is bright enough for me; other people have complained that its not bright enough.
The Bad:
-does not stream bluetooth A2DP.... huge flaw from kenwood. one would think kenwood's top single din headunit would come with this feature. I would have rated it 5 stars but it is missing this feature.
-HD radio works off and on-I really cant tell the differeance
-when making phone calls, scrolling through the phone book via headunit is very annoying. much easier to control through phone.
-comes with a cheap kenwood cloth to store the faceplate. kenwood should have included a hardcase to protect the expensive to replace faceplate if it gets damaged.
Over this a good product and would recommend it...but if you wish to stream music via blue tooth, you may need to reconsider. I wish kenwood would upgrade their firware/system to inlcude bluetooth streaming. Do not bother buying the kenwood ipod cable, a regular ipod cable will work with the usb cable
I got a killer deal on the headunit + installation (LA area). Send me you email for further information.

Hey guys.
Before I bought this, I used futistu life book t4220.
This is much better than that one.
Battery life? Perfect. everyday I use it in university and I don't charge it at all!
Always I put it into sleep mode, or hibernate mode. And my favorite program is Onenote and Photoshop.
Usually I use power-saving graphic card in university, but when I'm in home, I use ATI radeon graphic card.
I can play Mass effect2!!!
One thing bad is, screen is toooooo glooooooosy.
It's like a mirror. Actually I use it like mirror when morning.
Every thing else? Perfect.
