SPRINT SAMSUNG IP-830W CELL PHONE Review

SPRINT SAMSUNG IP-830W CELL PHONE
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While it is a pretty big phone I really don't mind it much because it has so much functionality and I am able to comfortably surf the web and check my web mail and send text messages. The world clock is kinda useless, it doesn't have too many cities listed and I typically don't have it on display. As this has a Microsoft operating system be prepared to reboot about 2x a week on average. Also the VoiceSignal program is really terrible, it never gets my voice command right and is totally useless. Other than that, the sliding keyboard is great and while it's hard to use it with one hand after a while I was able to train myself to do so. The PDF viewer is amazing, very cool application. The battery life is not that great, and the extended battery practically doubles the weight of the phone, so keep a charger with you where you go - of course it was impossible to find a spare charger for this phone and I searched high and low before I found a car charger that was compatible. Overall, its a fun phone and keeps me well connected.

For people who need power and performance wherever they roam, the Samsung IP-830W offers the answer. The 830W world phone uses the Sprint CDMA/EV-DO networks in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and roams on CDMA and/or GSM networks (voice) and GPRS networks (data) outside of North America, making it the ultimate business-class device for mobile professionals.
Into mixing business with pleasure? The 830W has groundbreaking entertainment features. A full color display slides down to reveal an integrated QWERTY keypad, while Bluetooth, and EV-DO wireless broadband keep you on the cutting edge of connectivity. Powered by the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system and with support for corporate e-mail accounts, this device is designed for maximum efficiency, wherever you are.
DesignThe 830W follows the standard form factor of the latest Pocket PC devices, with one major addition: a sliding QWERTY keyboard is hidden below the screen. A generous, 240 x 320 full-color touch-screen display dominates the face of the unit. Just below the display is a five-way selection button that allows you to navigate and control the Windows Mobile interface. Meanwhile, shortcut buttons offer quick access to your Outlook calendar, contacts, messaging, Internet Explorer, and more. Alternatively, the device can be directly controlled with an included stylus that slides out of the rear of the 830W's case.
Under the hood, the 830W sports a 520 MHz Bulverde Intel processor with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of embedded flash memory storage. The unit's memory slot supports additional flash-based memory so you can expand for more available storage. The Windows Mobile operating system is completely touch-screen-enabled and features advanced handwriting recognition that is compatible with all of the device's applications. There's a standard stereo 2.5mm headset jack, and USB data and charging is handled by the 830W's docking ports on the bottom of the device. To kick the 830W's audio features up a notch, Samsung has also built a pair of 3D stereo speakers into the unit's case.
Calling FeaturesMany of the 830W's calling features are integrated with the Windows Mobile operating system. For instance, the included Pocket Outlook software features a contacts list that is cleverly integrated with the phone's dialing functions. Meanwhile, the phone's handwriting recognition software can be used to dial numbers and enter contact information. Speaker-independent voice dialing is integrated, too, meaning the phone recognizes spoken contact names and quickly dials them. The 830W's built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear, and polyphonic ringtones are available, as is a vibrating alert. Caller ID and call waiting are also supported. Lastly, the 830W's Bluetooth connectivity makes it easy to sync the unit with a wide range of hands-free, wireless headsets and car kits.
Messaging, Internet, and ToolsThe 830W is designed as a complete mobile office solution, so Internet and messaging capabilities are robust. The unit comes packed with pocket versions of Outlook, Internet Explorer, and MSN Messenger. In addition to keeping track of contacts, Pocket Outlook features integrated calendar and e-mail functions. Microsoft's ActiveSync software keeps the device synced with all of your PC's Outlook information (via USB, infrared, or Bluetooth connection).
Users who want Internet connectivity on the road with their laptop or PDA can tap into the 830W's wireless modem capabilities. Sprint's next generation EV-DO broadband wireless network is compatible with the unit, meaning you can tap into blistering Internet speeds in areas where EV-DO coverage is provided. Meanwhile, the unit fully supports basic text messaging, as well as multimedia messaging (MMS) (Sprint Power Communication charges apply).
A generous toolset ships with the 830W's Windows Mobile 5.0 software. Pocket Outlook includes to-do lists, and pocket versions of Word and Excel are included so you can review and edit documents on the go. A calculator, an alarm clock for times when you're worried you might sleep-in, and a voice memo recorder round out the tools package.
Entertainment The 830W delivers the ultimate music experience. You can store digital music files and easily exchange them with your PC or stream them from the Internet. The included Windows Media Player application can also play videos for even more mobile entertainment.
The 830W's wallpapers and screen savers can be customized to suit your tastes. Windows Mobile and Java-based games are also supported. Samsung has even built in a handy application that allows the 830W's infrared port to control your home entertainment equipment.
Vital Statistics The Samsung IP-830W weighs 6.44 ounces and measures 4.49 x 2.28 x .97 inches. LG Rumor 2 Phone, Blue (Sprint) Review

LG Rumor 2 Phone, Blue (Sprint)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
for a free phone, (the deal I got when I bought it) it ain't bad - texting is AMAZING!!! I can type SO much faster and with such ease!!! I've got bigger thumbs, too,...so that's really say'n someth'n.
don't get this if you use GPS very much, tho....that feature came to a screeching halt - the phone itself just doesn't have enough memory to recalculate after taking a wrong turn - it'll literally take minutes to recalculate a route. pictures're fine, but I miss the flash from my previous phone.
also, the media player isn't all that great,....you can make folders on the micro SD card, but it won''t recognize 'em, jumbling all your songs of different cd's and genres in to one big blop of music.
so, for a simple, phone, it's a good one, just don't expect to excel at much more than normal phone would - call'n and text'n.

HTC Snap S511 Phone, Black (Sprint) Review

HTC Snap S511 Phone, Black (Sprint)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The HTC Snap fixes everything I didn't like about the HTC Touch Pro. I traded my HTC Touch Pro for the Snap because I didn't care for the user interface and found myself frustrated with simple tasks like placing a call, or sending a text message.
The HTC Snap has an intuitive design similar to a the original BlackBerry without the trackwheel. It's easy to navigate to make a call, send a text message, surf the web, or play a game. It's not bulky like other smartphones, and has a thin profile. Yet, it's not too small to use.
The integrated keyboard is easy to use, unlike pullout keyboards like on the Mogul and HTC Touch Pro.
The snap also performed better when configuring my Microsoft Exchange Over the Air Active-Sync configuration. It automatically downloaded my server settings after I provided my email address and password. The HTC Touch Pro required manual configuration.
My only wish from the Snap is support for WIFI.

PALM Centro Quad-band Smartphone - Unlocked Review

PALM Centro Quad-band Smartphone - Unlocked
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this phone for two reasons. First, I needed a phone because I couldn't keep a good case on my Motorola Razor. And second, my wife needed a new phone badly. My razor was about a year old, so I would buy me what I was looking for (no flipper or slider; but had full key board). This is what I came up with. My Wife keeps the Razor in her pocket without a case anyways. She was happy. I was really, really happy. This phone performs so well and looks so professional, I want it's premium model when It's upgrade time, even if I have to pay some. It does have a bug here and there but MOST of those can be worked out - seriously. I have AT&T, you HAVE to call and get your ring time extended from 20 to 30. Seriously, to have plenty of time, that has to be done. And the phone itself is awesome. All I can say is keep your upgrades up. Keep it updated.

Samsung Galaxy Tab (Sprint) Review

Samsung Galaxy Tab (Sprint)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Tab is a perfect hybrid between my phone and laptop. All the apps of your cell with the functionality of a laptop. Size is perfect for my purse. Lighter than the Kindle, which I also own. Battery is great even with several apps running AND..drum roll please, you can upload to it. Automatic Ipad killer with that function alone. This is the first product that I've had that runs on the android platform and its flow is easy and simple.
Camera is decent, both back and front. I do like the idea of both. The one on the front is not the greatest and unless you are in good light don't even bother with a self portrait.
Screen size and display is just beautiful, eye catching. Slightly smudgy at times so invest in the screen protector. Also GET A CASE!! It's essential and protects a very valuable investment.
Kindle & Nook apps are great, prefer reading on Kindle but in a pinch this will work well.
Skype works like a charm along with all the multiple other apps available and it comes preloaded with quite a lot! Some rather useless but that's standard these days with almost every product. I did a quick clean and deleted quite a few while adding more. I'm not a game player but I do have Pandora and Slacker radio installed, both are battery killers!
Seriously this is just a perfect on the go or at home toy. I generally keep it on WI-FI at home to reduce cost. The monthly plan is pricey thru Sprint and sort of disappoints when you have to constantly remember to turn off the 3G and/or switch to the Wi-fi if its available. Turning on the 3G feature should be slightly easier as well but once you get use to turning things on and off, it goes rather quickly. I do like the idea of turning off things running in the background at will, and be careful because there are a lot of things running willy nilly in the background. They are battery drainers! An average day of texting, cruising FB and Yahoo messenger means at least one good charge every 10 to 12 hrs. If I'm just texting and essentially keeping off the internet I can go two days without charging. I do find that it doesn't charge very fast if connected to my pc vs charging thru an electrical socket but it will maintain the juice it has if it is connected to your pc.
You do get a number assigned to your tab and you can text, which is a feature that is hardly ever mentioned in promo for the product. I've essentially stopped texting from my phone and moved it over to the much bigger and crisper screen of the Tab with the added bonus of using the Swype feature. That app is amazing by the way! Once the phone feature is added, which it will be, I would more than willingly drop my cell phone.

Swype Keyboard
An alternative to the Android virtual keyboard, the Swype virtual keyboard (seen at the right) allows you to input text by swiping the finger with one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard. Based on testing, speed and accuracy are equal to or better than the traditional keyboard-tapping method. You can activate the Swype keyboard by pressing and holding in a text field, wait for popup to appear, click Input Method, and then select Swype.

In the image to the left, the word "quick" was generated from tracing the path shown above in a fraction of a second, by roughly aiming to pass through the letters of the word. A key advantage to Swype is that there is no need to be very accurate, enabling very rapid text entry.
