1. The positive
---------------
* Excellent screen size and resolution
* Versatile (can play numerous video and audio formats, plenty of inpus: SD card, USB, DVD/CD, Bluetooth, auxilary)
* The USB input works flawlessly, recognizing the files fairly quickly
* The LCD has 3 different tilt levels for better viewing angles, and various brightness settings
* Looks and feels well-built / solid
* Auxilary input in the front (3.5") allows for easy connecting of MP3 players / cell phones (particularly useful since the Bluetooth is worthless on this device, per below)
* Comes with a small remote
2. The negative
---------------
(1) The Bluetooth: Drops out all the time, listening to Pandora or other streaming radio through the cell phone impossible. The sound quality with the included microphone is mediocre at best. Have not tried to pair the Bluetooth with a laptop or a device with a more powerful Bluetooth signal than a cell phone, but again, I don't plan on using a laptop while driving. Hence, the Bluetooth is worthless in my opinion.
(2) For some reason, after few hours of continuous watching, the movies running off the USB start 'skipping', which can get very obnoxious. Thankfully, this only happens occasionally, and it may have something to do with overheating of components while driving in a hot summer day, even though the device has a cooling fan in the back.
(3) In addition to the $25 for the wire harness, a $15 antenna harness is required ($40 at worstbuy; I was quoted $60+ elsewhere). The radio is not HD/digital and the reception quality is noticingly worse than my stock stereo.
(4) The SD card input is very slow, taking 1-2 minutes to "load up" the list of songs on a 4GB card. The recognition is much faster with a high quality SD card with smaller capacity (i.e. 2GB Sandisk ultra/extreme).
(3) The cooling fan can be loud, and the LCD brightness is not adequate for bright, sunny days. The movies are still watchable with the screen tilted down, but much is washed out.
(6) The remote must be directly pointed at the IR sensor to work, and the layout is not very user friendly / intuitive
SUMMARY
-------
Overall, it's far from a perfect device, but comparing its price to some bigger names (which I'm guessing are no better in addressing the issues I mentioned earlier), and the amount of joy it provides on loooong cross-country drives, this system is well worth it...

I purchased it last month, and had installed immediately. I have not upgraded my factory speakers, but the increase in sound quality was immediately noticible. The touch screen has the appropriate sensativity in my opinion. The quality of the dvd picture is EXCELLENT. Looks no different than a smaller version of my 50 inch Samsung Plasma. Tom Tom plugs easily into the port and displays perfectly. Has a hook up for a rear back up camera, that can be activated by a simple touch of the screen. Cd player works excellently. Plays multimedia, so hook up any device you can think of, and dj from the passenger seat. Those who are intending to purchase must realize the the screen flips upward. Be cautious of what it may block in the process. If you have vents above your deck area, I would advise you to choose another radio. I bought it for a 2001 Dodge Conversion Van, and the only issue I have is the gearshift, which I must pull toward myself, to allow the screen to go up without being blocked. DVD player has a block that does not allow it to play while car is in gear, but I hear that there is a way around it (wink wink), but try not to allow it to distract the driver. I also purchased a 20 inch Fold down Pyle TV, which is connected to my radio, so I can show the dvd's there, and fold down the screen in the front so the driver is not disturbed. I hope this review is helpful to you all, and I wish you all a happy, fruitful, and blessed New Year. Godspeed.

I purchased this unit recently, thinking it might be a good opportunity to have a great radio in my car and turned out to be a total disappointment. The first unit has a blue line in the center of the screen at just one day to install it on my Mazda.
I made the complaint to Amazon and they sent me a second unit, I was very happy that I received it and thought I could finally enjoy a good music after so long, but to my surprise when I was listening to MP3 files from USB memory the screen began to flash and got blank, although you could hear the music but the screen was not working.
Immediately I turn off the radio and turn it back seconds later to see if it already had passed the "dizziness" that gave him while playing MP3. Then I put a video DVD, when I am enjoying a good show in my new radio the "dizziness" returned with more force and this time it came out of the DVD menu and put in radio mode.
I have many comments on the management functions of this radio:
1. The controls are difficult to understand and do not last long on the screen to program anything, example Bass, Trebble, etc..
2. The sensitivity of the touch screen is very poor.
3. The sound controls are very basic.
In general the quality of this team is very doubtful, because it does not possess a good software to manage it.Boss BV9555 7-Inch Double-DIN Motorized In-Dash Widescreen Touchscreen TFT Monitor/DVD/MP3/CD Combo Receiver

I purchased this unit for my wife's car. Its a decent unit with a nice sound that brought the factory speakers to life. The video is nice and clear. The downfalls with this unit is CD's take a while to read, the aux. port always says no signal, the usb doesn't work with anything (Ipod or cell phone) other then a flash drive and the bluetooth is very "iffy". It will sync and unsync at will and thats if it even syncs in the first place. Cell phones seem to sync better than Ipods. Also, there are no graphics while a CD or SD card plays music and the music shuffle feature doesn't do a good job of shuffling. But the unit isn't too bad for $150.00. After all, you get what you pay for.

Sony MEXBT3700U CD Receiver Bluetooth Hands-Free with Integrated Microphone (Black) Review

Sony MEXBT3700U CD Receiver Bluetooth Hands-Free with Integrated Microphone (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this head unit because I got an iphone 3GS (previous iphone models do not have Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP)) and wanted something that would give me as many options of integrating it with the car stereo as possible without spending a ton of money. I also didn't want to have to pay extra for the bluetooth attachments that you have to add on to the bluetooth ready head units.
-BLUETOOTH AUDIO STREAMING
The audio bluetooth streaming is great sound quality is very good (I am not a picky audiophile so can't say if sensitive ears would notice anything wrong with the quality), I actually listen to local radio stations through their internet streams through the iphone then bluetoothed to the car stereo because its better sound quality then what I get out of the tuner (any tuner not just this one, I live in a bad radio reception area between 2 markets). The stereo usually picks up my phone (for both phone and audio) within 30 seconds of turning on the car. I have had to reset the bluetooth (takes about 20 seconds, push one button twice) every few weeks because it will start to get skippy but it is a pretty minor inconvenience. Listening to Pandora through the Iphone to the car stereo is awesome, and has greatly improved my commute.

-Bluetooth Phone connection
Connects within 30 seconds of starting the car. Sound quality is good. And the microphone that is built in actually works well, this shocked me I was sure I would have to either yell or buy an external mic but the one that comes in the head unit picks up my voice fine I have not had a complaint about people on the other end of the call not being able to hear me. Another good thing about the mic being built in is that it saved me $60 on the installation that they would have charged me to install an external mic. The transition between phone call and what was playing before the call is automatic and fluid.
-USB input
I have not gotten a chance to use this because the bluetooth has worked well. It would be nice if it had a USB on the back of the unit in addition to the one on the front so that you could run a wire hidden behind the console plastic and have it connect where ever you wanted it to without it cluttering up the car (that is the main reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars).Overall I love this unit because it was fairly cheap and it does exactly what I wanted it to do in respect to integrating with my Iphone.

The Sony MEX-BT3700U head unit with Bluetooth wireless technology features a front USB connection, a front aux-in and three preouts. The CD/MP3/WMA/AAC receiver is also compatible with the latest in Sony's audio features and technologies, including ZAPPIN, Quick-BrowZer, Jump Mode, Passenger Control and DM+ Advanced. Sony offers an optional microphone, model XA-MC10, designed to complement the MEX-BT3700U.

Detachable Faceplate The MEX-BT3700U features a detachable faceplate with black 13-segment LCD display. Switchable blue or green key illumination makes control in the dark a snap, and lets you pick your style.

USB 1-Wire With the addition of USB 1-wire functionality on select Sony CD receivers, you can easily expand your digital music player's options in your system. USB 1-wire receivers allow you to connect, charge, and control many digital music players including iPod, iPhone, Walkman music player, and even USB thumb drives directly from the head units, all from one wire.
iPod Direct By connecting an iPod to the USB port, you can listen to all your favorite iPod tunes on your car speakers. Once connected, the iPod will turn on, and it'll resume where you last left off. Enjoy full control of the iPod from the CDX-GT530UI, and while the car is on, your iPod will get a charge, so it'll be ready to go when you're back on foot.

USB Support Insert a USB thumb drive in the front panel USB port and enjoy your favorite digital audio files.
The CDX-GT530UI gives you the freedom to choose your format. Whether it's burnt to disc or on your USB drive, you'll enjoy playback of MP3, WMA, and AAC formats.
You also get ID3 tag support--title, artist and album info will be scrolled across the LCD.

Get Zapped with ZAPPIN While enjoying your iPod, or USB tunes, you can give ZAPPIN a try. Sony's unique ZAPPIN technology operates similarly to most car stereos' scan buttons. It continues to play a series of short music clips from your own music library until you can find your favorite song to match your mood.

Ready for SAT and HD Radio Using separate Sony adapters you can add an HD radio tuner, or add Satellite Radio for a wealth of channels of music, news, talk shows, sports and traffic information with CD quality sound.
AM/FM Radio Always have your favorite stations at hand with 18 FM and 12 AM presets.
Best Tuning Memory Setting your radio presets can be a real pain while you're driving--especially if you're in an unfamiliar area. So, let the tuner do the work for you by activating the Best Tuning Memory (BTM) function. The tuner will seek out up to 18 of the strongest stations in the area and set them into the tuner presets.

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this to replace an old Radio in my 95 Jeep GC. Space is very limited in the radio compartment. The BOSS BV9997BI MultiMedia player comes with a wad of wires, hard wired into the radio back that also has two large wiring connector cubes. To fit all this in, plus the radio wiring adapter and IPOD cable, entensive cutting had to be done to the Jeep radio area. The radio comes with a cable for an IPOD that must be stuck into the back of the radio, rather than having an outlet on the face of the radio. If you will be installing a backup camera, purchase it and do it during the initial BOSS install, or you will have to remove the radio again. The 7" display is very good, but if you retract it and attempt to use the display on the faceplate, it is extremely dim to the extent it is totally inadequate viewing in the daylight. It can also be a function that the lettering and background are both light colors and the text is very thin. It is easy to read at night, in the dark, and actually could use a dimmer, but has none.
The common on/off as part of the volume switch does not work with the BOSS. Rather, you have to press and hold a SOURCE button for that function. Attempting to insert a CD or DVD does not automatically select the function to play it. You must first select the media by pressing and releasing the SOURCE button. Original CDs with painted-on labels work fine, but I inserted some CDs with press-on labels and had difficulty getting them to eject. There appears to be too close a tolerance in the mechanism to accomodate labeled CDs without problems. (Letting the BOSS cool down allowed me to extract the CD's.) Adjusting the channel balance could be made easier by adding a joystick-like button to the faceplate. Manually adjusting the balance with the touchscreen is a challenge and definitely not for use while on the go. Faceplate adjusting is even worse. The detachable front panel only detatches the buttons in the lower faceplate. It is held on by two small, fragile looking pieces of plastic that I hope don't break off.
Not all functions are on the faceplate. Some can only be accessed using the remote control. So don't misplace or forget to take the remote. The instruction manual is extremely poor, missing explanations for highlighted, numbered functions and having clear explanations. BOSS really should employ someone with native English skills to write and edit their manuals.
Although the concept of incorporating all the latest bells and whistles into a unit is great, BOSS falls short in making the package easy and working well. I will pursue purchasing an extra remote and frontpanel, in case they break or are lost. I cannot recommend this to others. I also wonder if BOSS's other flip-out players don't suffer from the same problems, since most seem to be design and documentation problems.
