(More customer reviews)This is by far the best bang for the buck in home theater currently. My Dad decided his system needed an upgrade and so I started digging around local stores and browsing the web. The more I checked around the more apparent it became that this system is head and shoulders above anything else in its class. The inclusion of the wireless rear channel is a $200 value in competing systems such as Panasonic's.
Setup was a breaze. All the speaker wires were color-coded and snap in and out of the rear of the unit which made adjusting wires during cleanup considerably easier. When we cranked it up the first time the dog went cowering in a different room because the roar of the lion's was so intense. Aside from the laughter/sadness of scaring the dog hopefully you get the idea that this can produce a lot of sound. The sound wasn't just loud either, it was crisp and responsive on a variety of DVD's I tried.
The only bump we hit in the entire process is that apparently the included remote is not compatible with Sylvania TV's (any Sylvania TV's). I ended up killing the remote while trying codes for other brands of TV's to the point that it wouldn't work on the home theater any more. I called Samsung and pleasantly surprised at how good their phone support was. They answered the phone within a couple minutes and I spent less than 15 minutes on the phone with them. They ended up replacing the remote via mail.
So, anyone that's not an audiophile with deep pockets will get a lot of benefit from this system. Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)Although the radio appears to have great features like a top of the line radio, there were some defects in the unit. Note: it was professionally installed. The volume control did not work adequately. When shut all of the way off, you still heard music. Turning up the volume, you nearly maxed output through the speakers. The bluetooth functionality did not work well either. There was constant static. In addition, when you tried to stream music, there was a constant hum on low volume. Subsequently, I returned this item and purchased another brand completely (Soundstorm - no issues with this unit with one exception - while using bluetooth, the receiver on the phone hears some static).

I have a 2001 Honda with 4 pioneer mid speakers and 2 12 inch subs in a sealed box in the trunk with amp and this head unit powers it all perfectly. I used to have a Pioneer deck and my music is even louder now then it was before. The touchscreen is great and easy to use after the first 5-10 mins. The bad:
Valor support is poor. Sent a help request 3 days ago to Valor about the touch screen not responding to my touch (after a week of ownership). Haven't heard back. I tried restarting stereo, and the remote control functioned but not TS. Recalibrating was not possible. After turning off car and waiting until the next day, problem went away. If it happens again, I will revise my review.
***REVISION*** The touch screen continuously stops working when the unit gets hot. This has happened dozens of times in the couple months I've owned the unit. It works again after the car is turned off for a while, but it lost another star because it is annoying, and Valor support never responded to my inquiry above.
Also, I have yet to find a brand of SD media card that the unit will read without getting "device not supported" (I've tried reformatting 2 brands of SD cards in FAT32 and NTFS and it still doesn't read them).
It also takes a good 30 seconds for the player to scan a DVD full of mp3's, or to scan USB media...not a deal breaker...but you would be surprised what this can do at 6AM when you forgot you attempted an awfully loud singalong and butchering of "Run to the Hills" the previous night. I nearly soiled my pants the morning my stereo resumed play at the same loud volume. Luckily you can set a resume volume, and I highly suggest going that route.
One more thing...the screen ejection mechanism seems fragile and likely to fail some time after the warranty expires.

The ugly:
Me singing "Run to the Hills"...and the fact that the blue LEDs do not match my orange dash lights, but real men do not care about that...or so I'm told.Conclusion:
Lost 2 stars because the verdict is still out on the the long-term durability, and Valor's support and website need serious improvement. I may have to send it back. For now, when all the features do work, it's lovely.
I recommend filling out and sending off the Valor warranty card to make sure you get your full one year manufacturer support.

(More customer reviews)If you want a receiver just to play DVD's, buy this. This unit has many features that will annoy you and there are some features it doesn't have that makes this unit unbearable. I would not dislike this unit so much if I hadn't already owned a Pioneer AVH P4000DVD( Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD 2-Din DVD Multimedia AV Receiver ....now that was a quality deck.
FEATURES: First off, there is NO WAY to turn the screen off at night so it will glare at your eyes and is almost dangerous to drive with. The faceplate will automatically lift back up if you take too long to put a cd in which can catch and scratch cd's. The clock will not hold time when you use the auto station memory feature. The screen is only 800X480 and becomes fuzzy looking sometimes. I have been getting an absurd amount of noise across my speakers, none of the other 10+ stereo installs I have done had this issue which include 2 prior stereo installs in this same truck.
Features NA: No loudness settings, no High/Low pass filters, only 2v preamp out, preamp out didnt work out of the box so i used FL/FR RCA channels(those worked ok), cannot turn off display without turning off stereo, Ipod requires an additional $25 Scosche passPORT - Charging Adapter to be charged through the units Ipod cable.
One final note, this is NOT a standard Double Din deck, I had to modify the trim to make the DVD player fit without a huge gap around it. The screw holes on the side where the brackets attach are ALSO not standard size screw holes, you will have to go buy new screws from a hardware store. I have major issues with all of this due to the fact the company, Power Acoustiks has been around for 27 years and still can't make good quality. Pioneer may be a bit more expensive but you are paying for the excellent quality. Pioneer AVH P4000DVD was my prior Double Din DVD player and was better in every aspect.

(More customer reviews)This is my second multimedia head unit. I bought this a month ago in an attempt to bypass the big brands high prices. I have had no major problems out of it so far. I love that it has front sd, aux, and usb inputs. I would have made more since to combine usb and sd into one to avoid having to use an adapter cable especially since you access sd through usb in the head unit. With everything packed into the face of a single din there is no room for next/previous buttons so you either have to use the remote or touchscreen. The remote sensor is located above the volume button so it has to be held up at that level. The unit is slow switching between modes and cuts the the volume down before cuting it off and vice versa. Lastly, when the unit is switched off the repeat setting is lost. To me all of these problems are negligible. For less than $300 it is a good value for a multimedia player with everything accept Nav. Unfortunately usability and navigation can't compare to a pioneer.

(More customer reviews)I generally like Yamaha products but this receiver has one huge flaw. The HDMI outs do not support audio sound. I ran separate optical audio outputs from cable box and CD player. The one HDMI out on the reciever only worked with DVD not Cable box or DTV inputs. So don't plan on running a separate TV from the HDMI out on the reciever. The sound quality is good and the functions are easy to learn with the exception of the scene feature. Really not that well explained. I like the reciever and was able to work around the HDMI issue but think that this is a huge oversight on Yamaha's part. I hope this review is helpful.

I purchased this product in June. the summer heat here got in the high 90's, so the inside heat in my white pickup was pretty hot. my lanzar unit kept trying to default to DVD mode and sometimes the screen wouldn't come on untill the A/C cooled things down a bit.
The music sounds great and the DVD picture and sound is great, the radio reception could definitely be better. But the graphics of the display while in radio and aux mode are really bad. All the touch buttons work fine but look like 1980's software graphics, it's embarrassing and i found no way to do visual upgrades. There's also a usb port on the front that i never was able to use but tried, there's no clear instruction how to use it.
Ok, so now it's October and we had a cold front move through. I got in my pickup early that morning and the temperature was about 25 degrees. the display quit working permanently but everything else still works, even the touch screen. but it's hard to navigate a touch screen with no display.
All in all everything worked how expected but it doesn't do extreme temperature too well. if you think that was extreme..

* Excellent screen size and resolution
* Versatile (can play numerous video and audio formats, plenty of inpus: SD card, USB, DVD/CD, Bluetooth, auxilary)
* The USB input works flawlessly, recognizing the files fairly quickly
* The LCD has 3 different tilt levels for better viewing angles, and various brightness settings
* Looks and feels well-built / solid
* Auxilary input in the front (3.5") allows for easy connecting of MP3 players / cell phones (particularly useful since the Bluetooth is worthless on this device, per below)
* Comes with a small remote
2. The negative
---------------
(1) The Bluetooth: Drops out all the time, listening to Pandora or other streaming radio through the cell phone impossible. The sound quality with the included microphone is mediocre at best. Have not tried to pair the Bluetooth with a laptop or a device with a more powerful Bluetooth signal than a cell phone, but again, I don't plan on using a laptop while driving. Hence, the Bluetooth is worthless in my opinion.
(2) For some reason, after few hours of continuous watching, the movies running off the USB start 'skipping', which can get very obnoxious. Thankfully, this only happens occasionally, and it may have something to do with overheating of components while driving in a hot summer day, even though the device has a cooling fan in the back.
(3) In addition to the $25 for the wire harness, a $15 antenna harness is required ($40 at worstbuy; I was quoted $60+ elsewhere). The radio is not HD/digital and the reception quality is noticingly worse than my stock stereo.
(4) The SD card input is very slow, taking 1-2 minutes to "load up" the list of songs on a 4GB card. The recognition is much faster with a high quality SD card with smaller capacity (i.e. 2GB Sandisk ultra/extreme).
(3) The cooling fan can be loud, and the LCD brightness is not adequate for bright, sunny days. The movies are still watchable with the screen tilted down, but much is washed out.
(6) The remote must be directly pointed at the IR sensor to work, and the layout is not very user friendly / intuitive
SUMMARY
-------
Overall, it's far from a perfect device, but comparing its price to some bigger names (which I'm guessing are no better in addressing the issues I mentioned earlier), and the amount of joy it provides on loooong cross-country drives, this system is well worth it...

(More customer reviews)I purchased it last month, and had installed immediately. I have not upgraded my factory speakers, but the increase in sound quality was immediately noticible. The touch screen has the appropriate sensativity in my opinion. The quality of the dvd picture is EXCELLENT. Looks no different than a smaller version of my 50 inch Samsung Plasma. Tom Tom plugs easily into the port and displays perfectly. Has a hook up for a rear back up camera, that can be activated by a simple touch of the screen. Cd player works excellently. Plays multimedia, so hook up any device you can think of, and dj from the passenger seat. Those who are intending to purchase must realize the the screen flips upward. Be cautious of what it may block in the process. If you have vents above your deck area, I would advise you to choose another radio. I bought it for a 2001 Dodge Conversion Van, and the only issue I have is the gearshift, which I must pull toward myself, to allow the screen to go up without being blocked. DVD player has a block that does not allow it to play while car is in gear, but I hear that there is a way around it (wink wink), but try not to allow it to distract the driver. I also purchased a 20 inch Fold down Pyle TV, which is connected to my radio, so I can show the dvd's there, and fold down the screen in the front so the driver is not disturbed. (More customer reviews)I purchased this unit recently, thinking it might be a good opportunity to have a great radio in my car and turned out to be a total disappointment. The first unit has a blue line in the center of the screen at just one day to install it on my Mazda.
I made the complaint to Amazon and they sent me a second unit, I was very happy that I received it and thought I could finally enjoy a good music after so long, but to my surprise when I was listening to MP3 files from USB memory the screen began to flash and got blank, although you could hear the music but the screen was not working.
Immediately I turn off the radio and turn it back seconds later to see if it already had passed the "dizziness" that gave him while playing MP3. Then I put a video DVD, when I am enjoying a good show in my new radio the "dizziness" returned with more force and this time it came out of the DVD menu and put in radio mode.
I have many comments on the management functions of this radio:
1. The controls are difficult to understand and do not last long on the screen to program anything, example Bass, Trebble, etc..
2. The sensitivity of the touch screen is very poor.
3. The sound controls are very basic.

The wire from the rear of the vehicle of my Ford f-150 P/U truck is approx. 8' too short
The installation instructions for the Blue Tooth pairing does not provide any keycode to pair your cell phone.
The camera in no way will fit into a (KEYHOLE} It requires a 1.1" hole for the camera to fit into.
Mounting the camera into the hole for the spare tire handle to go through is just the right size, however the camera will not pick up the trailer hitch ball. I had to mfg a metal bracket and attached it to the center hole in my bumper where Ford put in 3 holes for various bumper hitch balls., which puts the camera directly in line with the trailer coupling. Should you come back too fast or too far (whamo) there goes the camera. This camera does not have a very big field of vision downward. The angled adaptor that comes with the camera just doesn't do it.
The mirror and monitor are big and you do get a decent picture
Hook up to the camera and to 12volts and a ground is simple. I found that you don't need to hook up the blue wire at all unless you are going to use the other video hook up. I cannot tag this item like it asks below?

Pioneer CD BTB200 - Cellular phone Bluetooth adapter Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great bluetooth option for someone not having a factory bluetooth already there. I have an 06 Tahoe and installed this with my Pioneer in dash cd/dvd player. It works great, it's easy to pair, and my phone automatically asks me to pair just like a factory adapter. Goes through my car stereo perfect. Unless you do installation as a profession, I would advise doing the project via paying someone to do so. It's a lot of work time wise, and not to mention the electrical wiring is a bit tedious. With that said, I did price installation for about $45. Considering I didn't buy the product from the place, that isn't a bad price and worth every penny looking back.
It's a highly recommended product by me, and it's a usual Pioneer great product line.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit for my wife's car. Its a decent unit with a nice sound that brought the factory speakers to life. The video is nice and clear. The downfalls with this unit is CD's take a while to read, the aux. port always says no signal, the usb doesn't work with anything (Ipod or cell phone) other then a flash drive and the bluetooth is very "iffy". It will sync and unsync at will and thats if it even syncs in the first place. Cell phones seem to sync better than Ipods. Also, there are no graphics while a CD or SD card plays music and the music shuffle feature doesn't do a good job of shuffling. But the unit isn't too bad for $150.00. After all, you get what you pay for.
