LG KS360 Tri-band Cell Phone - Unlocked Review

LG KS360 Tri-band Cell Phone - Unlocked
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is phone is almost everything I wanted it to be.
Just to begin, I use AT&T and I actually get better signal now then I did with my old phone, which I bought from AT&T. I have five bars almost everywhere, including places where friends with AT&T have no signal.
It has a great fairly high resolution screen that rotates based on if the keyboard is out or not. The video quality is pretty good for a phone and the point-and-shoot camera actually produces very nice pictures. The "touchscreen" actually only functions if you're using it to dial a number when the keyboard is closed. It is by no means a significant control mechanism.
The software has a very clean look and is very easy to manage -- every feature is where you expect it to be. Also, it has many ways to instantly check messages or create a new text message. It also has a cool feature where is lines up your messages with the same person as though it were a chat, which makes it very easy to remember what they said last. However, using that line-up method, I've had a lot of trouble with it chopping off the ends of messages, but if you just use the regular view, it's not a problem. Also, referring to the software in general, I've had a number of instances when it froze temporarily -- annoying, but not common enough to really be a problem.
The phone itself looks great. I have mine in a somewhat chunky case, which really detracts from the way it looks, but without the case it's very sleek and gorgeous. Also, even though it's a slider with a full keyboard, it's very thin and light. The buttons on the front and the keyboard are a good size -- not so small you can't tell what you're doing, but not too big, either.
And the battery life seems to be really good. Off of one full charge, it stays alive for three or four days of regular talking and texting before it dies.
And just a heads up, the charger that I got was actually a European charger with an American adapter, which works just fine, but it makes the charger really bulky, so it's hard to plug in behind furniture. Also, my manual came in what I think is Romanian, but there are plenty of manuals available online, and the phone is so intuitive it wasn't really a problem.
Overall, I really like this phone, and I'm glad that I got it, even though there are definitely less expensive unlocked phones out there. Sure, it sometimes glitches on me, but it's never been anything severe. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a durable, QWERTY keyboard phone.

Nice features and my 18 year old daughter loves it, she says it is "tight". Nice conversion tables built in for overseas travel for determining weight, distance, currency, etc. Works well in Augusta, GA, Atlanta, and New York City with Tmobile so far.

Design The LG KG800 is entirely about fashion, convenience, and usability. The ultra-thin, stylish slider design always keeps the unobtrusive internal antenna safely tucked away-- always protected from snags or breaking. A unique touch protection feature is built right into the phone--preventing unwanted key actions. In an effort to always keep things looking fashionable, the 176 x 220 pixel screen boasts over 260,00 colors. The user interface provides for clear images and text, and there are wallpapers with fun animations, as well. Other design features include a 1.3-megapixel camera, which is housed on the rear of the phone. To keep the user interface looking clean and tidy, the left edge of the handset sports the volume buttons, while the right side houses the end call key, media key, and a covered USB 1.1 interface. The phone includes 128 MB of shared internal memory.
Calling Features The Chocolate boasts powerful calling functions, such as speaker independent voice dialing, which makes it easy to call contacts by simply saying their names. And because the Chocolate is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.
Messaging, Internet and Tools The phone's support for multimedia messaging means that text, photos, video and audio can be sent with ease. When used in combination with the Chocolate's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. The built in MMS editor allows the user to create convenient messaging templates for fast MMS messages, as well as the usual ability to create SMS messaging templates. And to make messaging even easier on the KG800, the phone comes stock with built-in T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets--a definite plus for mobile email and text messaging users. A number of handy software tools are bundled with the Chocolate including a calendar, an alarm clock, a calculator, a stopwatch timer, a digital note pad, and a vibrating alert alarm.
Imaging and Entertainment The KG800 arrives Java enabled, allowing you to play the latest games--a requisite for any high-end fashion phone. The KG800 even comes stock with embedded games, and of course, more games can always be downloaded from the web and loaded onto the phone via the KG800's convenient USB connection port.
Into taking pictures or carrying your music with you everywhere? The Chocolate's 1.3-megapixel digital camera features a flash, a 4x digital zoom, a multi shot mode, and a photo album feature. The camera also offers up to one-hour of video capture. When it's time for music, the Chocolate boasts a built-in music player with stereo speakers and an equalizer, offering MP3 and WMA playback, a feature which lets you keep your music playing in the background while during a call. Pros- The phone looks really nice than it appears in this picture and it also comes in a really attractive box.
Speakers are not loud but it's clear & if you use earphones you will love it.
Camera is fantastic.

Cons- It attracts fingerprints that I don't like.
Wi-fi should not be your main use if you buy this phone.I tried to play Youtube video but it didn't work.

This phone is really cool. It has great applications and I like the 3 different home screens it has. The full QWERTY keyboard is really nice for texting, I text a lot...I don't like the T9 touch screen texting, but I have the keyboard so that's what I use. The camera is ok. I love the FM radio. Overall it's a good phone.

i ordered it, it came in how many ever days it said it would come, it came brand new as it said it would and im enjoying the phone very much.
its small, cheap, and very easy to use. there's no new technology to it like android or something, its all the basics on the menu but it's got a full QWERTY keyboard. texting is incredibly easier with this phone and much more enjoyable, its also probably one of the smallest full QWERTY keyboard phones there are,
i hope this helped!

Nokia 3600 Slide Unlocked Cell Phone with 3.2 MP Camera, MP3 Player, MicroSD Slot-- International Version with No U.S Warranty (Charcoal) Review

Nokia 3600 Slide Unlocked Cell Phone with 3.2 MP Camera, MP3 Player, MicroSD Slot-- International Version with No U.S Warranty (Charcoal)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The 3600 by Nokia is a great phone. It is one of the few phones that fit the criteria I was looking for.
1)Supports a micro SD up to 8 GB ( comes with 512MB )
2)3+ MP has 3 settings: still camera up to (2048x1536) the video cam. up to (640x480)
3)Quad band works worldwide (not sure what your carriers frequency is, buy a quad band phone)
4)Ultra compact with a sliding lock function.
5)Excellent battery life I go days without recharging.
6)The only phone under $200 delivered with the above features at the time I made my purchase. (my total cost 199.98 USD)
I discovered in the last 3 weeks:
1)Easy to navigate menu.
2)The ring tone can be set as mp3 or mp4.
3)The alarm is great and very functional
4)Many ways to transfer data including Bluetooth , USB, micro SD
5)Has FM Radio that works when the included head phones are plugged in.
6)The camera works even when the slider is closed.
7)Has games pre installed (but I have not yet got around to playing them)
8)Excellent reception ( so good keep away from your cordless home phone )
9)This phone could record video continuously until is stopped or the memory fills up or until an incoming call will cause the recording to pause and then could be resumed after the call ends.
Nothing is perfect:
1)No Wi-Fi
2)Speaker sound could be better
3)This specific unit was intended for the Far East region, so some features like the dictionary and maps might need updating to English and US territories.
* November update: I have owned this phone for 9 months and it is great. I droped it a few times and is is undamaged. The batery is as good as I first reviewed.

I love this PDA....I just got it on Sunday! It is very user freindly and I am not big on instructions LOL. I took my time reading the manual and I was able to figure out the Ming without getting frustrated. The only thing that I haven't learned to do is get picture text, being that it is a phone not quite like our technology here in the USA, I have to call Motorola and see if they can configure it do this feature. My cell phone company couldn't get it after spending an hour on the phone. The phone takes great pix clear and crisp, you can also take a picture of a business card, you never have to type all that info again, and it is a flip. No more accidentally pressing buttons while the phone is in a back or your pocket that might drain your battery. The ringers are also loud enough for you to hear you phone if you are in another room, in your purse or work bag.

LG Shine KE970 Unlocked Phone Black-Label Series with Tri Band GSM, 2 MP Camera, Camcorder, Bluetooth, and MicroSD Memory Expansion--International Version with No Warranty (Shining Silver) Review

LG Shine KE970 Unlocked Phone Black-Label Series with Tri Band GSM, 2 MP Camera, Camcorder, Bluetooth, and MicroSD Memory Expansion--International Version with No Warranty (Shining Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I must echo other online reviews about this phone. It shines... and basically that's what it does.
This is a phone about fashion. And thus, I believe it's geared towards fashion concious women.
I'm a middle aged male and I enjoy the shiny look and appreciate the elgant metal that covers most of the phone (so much that it's not just an "accent").
I also appreciate the good sound of the MP3 player and the autofocus of the 2 Megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach Optics (whoever they are).
Therefore, I bought it for my wife. BUT I didn't notice that it didn't work on her operator's band, so I'm stuck with it.
As a middle aged male who's looking for more function than form, this beautiful phone just doesn't work for me, and here's why:
1. The scrolling wheel is not responsive enough.
2. The keys are awkardly placed. Reaching for the bottom row is uncomfortable, and the send and end keys are not where I expect them to be.
3. Also, there's not much tactile feedback to notice the separation between the keys (so you must be able to look at the phone when dialing). Try texting fast with it...
4. The interfase software is not great. Very basic MP3 player.
5. Love the autofocus... Hate the autofocus! It's great that you can get the camera to focus on things 1 inch away from the lens. Great to take a good pic of a business card or any other stationary object. Bad if you try to shoot a moving target, because it takes at least one full second to focus. It just won't work because there's such a delay (at least 2 seconds) from the moment you press the button to the moment the picture is taken, that you get either blurred pictures or the events you want to picture have already passed (and gone). You can't shut down the shutter (no mute, can't change the sound either). And where's the ZOOM??? Couldn't figure it out: Volume keys don't do it and scroll wheel doesn't do it either.
6. Shine! Really, I had never experienced such a frustrating thing as trying to use this phone in sunlight. It's near impossible. It REALLY is that bad.
7. Bluetooth connection has not happened smoothly. I haven't been able to send pics via bluetooth to my BlackBerry Curve. And when I connect the ear piece to the Shine, the ear piece loses all settings and stops connecting to my BB (so I must do the whole pairing process again). I had a Nokia before and I could connect my ear piece to both phones simmultaneously without a problem (I'm not saying I could have two conversations at once, but I could receive a call from any of the two phones at one time).
8. Reception is not good
9. Scratches easily all over; fingerprint magnet
10. I drive a lot. I LOVE voice dialing. Where is it?
11. The loudspeaker is so underpowered that the speakerphone function is close to useless. I love speakerphones because I can multi-task with both hands free.
So, if you're someone who expects a cell phone to be more functional than a basic $10 household phone, maybe this one's not for you.
If you want to shell $200 for a great looking phone that only works as a phone (and not the best at that), that's your call. You can alwas look at it as a piece of jewelery (or get one of those gold plated phones with diamonds and rubies).
I'm fine and happy with my BlackBerry Curve, thank you. Even if I still have to get me a better camera.
Two other words of advice:
1. I bought an unlocked phone imported from I don't know where. Thus, be sure to check connectivity with your operator first! Tri-Band means the phone works on any of 3 bands... make sure your operator has one of them.
2. My primary language is spanish and the phone I got seems to be an asian version. Thus I can only choose between english and a bunch of asian languages (vietnamese, chinese, simplified chinese, etc.)

Find what you need fast over the supported GPRS transfer protocol. And with the phone's built-in document viewer you can view and transport .ppt, .doc, .pdf, .xls, and .txt files. A number of handy software tools are bundled with the Shine including a calendar, an alarm clock, a calculator, a stopwatch timer, a digital note pad, and a vibrating alert alarm.
Connect the Shine to a PC using a USB cable and it will become a mass storage device. Drag and drop files such as music, photos, videos, and more straight to the phone and you can carry them with you wherever you go. No software is required for the PC; simply plug and play.
Imaging and Entertainment The Shine arrives Java enabled, allowing you to play the latest games--a requisite for any high-end fashion phone. The Shine even comes stock with embedded games, and of course, more games can always be downloaded from the Web and loaded onto the phone via convenient USB and Bluetooth connectivity.

Load up all your favorite music on memory cards, and take your favorite music with you. You can also take advantage of the Shine's Bluetooth wireless headset capability, allowing you to hook up a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones.
The Shine also supports Flight Mode meaning that the phone's calling abilities are disabled so you can still listen to music, watch videos, play Java games, and more in locations where mobile phones are prohibited, such as aboard airplanes.

This is a great product. It is small, yet has a larger screen then expected. It has Motorola's imfamous Motoblur, which, may I say, is awesome, and it arrived so fast that Amazon said it hadn't even been shipped yet. Seriously. That happened. Lol! Battery life is great, and experiencing this phone is quite frankly amazing. It includes access to the Android Market, which has thousands of great apps (not redundant ones like Apple's Appstore has, with repeats of the same thing over and over, which is the reason they have millions of apps), and it has a brilliant screen even though the resolution isn't HD like Apple iPhone's "Retina" display. The three touch-sensitive buttons at the lower front of the phone are completely responsive, and it has a great 5MP camera for the average user. It also films digital video for those greater moments in life, and it has a great browser. This phone is upgradable to Google's Android 2.1 OS, which allows you other great new features. It has a GPS that I haven't been able to use yet, but I've heard that it works great. It came in great packaging that was so protective that you could've thrown it off of a 200ft cliff and it wouldn't have done one thing to the contents inside. The box contained in the packaging is small and doesn't impact the environment as much as other older designs, and it also has a unique form to it. The keyboard isn't nearly as bad as it's cracked up to be on YouTube, and it is also very large and special in design. The MicroSD card slot is very easy to operate with a small switch to prevent it from sliding out, and it is hassle-free. If you have $200, I would definitely get this phenominal phone. The only better ones that I can think about that are better then this, are the Droid series, but you will end up paying hundreds of dollars more for those than this bargain. So if you have the money, buy this Motorola MB300 Backflip 3G Android Phone with a 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, GPS Mavigator and Bluetooth. This is also the international version with the warranty, which makes this deal even better.

LG Optimus GT540 Unlocked GSM Quad-Band Phone with 3 MP Camera, Android OS, Touch Screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth - Unlocked Phone - No Warranty - Black
Average Reviews:

Performance: fast & stable.
- It can run Raging Thunder II smoothly (need to download data to SD card separately in order to run the game. The data can be found easily on android forums).
- Web browsing: no lag when scrolling. No double-tap or one-touch zooming (as in Iphone and other capacitive phones) because this phone has resistive screen.
Wifi:
- Easy to config.
- Run smoothly.
Texting: not texting so no comment. However:
- Qwerty onscreen keyboard is not spacious (3" screen).
Music:
- Loudspeaker is good for pop, rap. Not good for metal + rock: I tried playing Tokyo (Resident Evil - Afterlife's OST)and it sounded awful.
Connectivity:
- Always has good signal.
- No problem with making calls (voice is clear).
Software:
- Running Android 1.6.
- Can be upgraded to 2.1 (not officially supported).
Battery:
- 1500mAh => long standby time.
- Run out quickly when running game + WiFi on (battery is drained 21% when running Raging Thunder II for 10 mins).
*Pros:
- One of the most cheapest WiFi & (A)GPS-ready android phone.
- Fast & stable performance.
- Long battery life (standby time).
- Good design (curves at the top & bottom, brushed-metal-like plastic case).
*Cons:
- Resistive screen => no double-tap zooming.
- Old version of Android (1.6). But upgradable to 2.1 (support Live Wallpaper).
Suggestion:
- Install APNdroid (must use 3.0, 2.1 won't work) + 3G Watchdog.
- Install ApkInstaller to install applications from SD card.

Hi I received this phone.
First I want to refer to the portoguese Instruction Manual.
I received mine with a very good and extensive Instruction Manual in English and Chinese.
So no problem what so ever there.
About the back being of a plastic material .... Truth.
But the only time I opened the phone was to insert the 2 sims (different providers)
So it does not matter at all. maybe even better as for the total weight.
I bought this phone as I have lost my money with the previous one I purchased, which was the CECT Airphone 4.
This LG is so much better then the CECT Airphone 4. Which was a disaster.
Going to change my review on that one.
The LG GX500 is 100% to my liking. The picture quality is ok, not moving objects. And with good lichting.
The MP3 sound is exceptional good. The FM-Radio is perfect. I use 2 SIMS and it works flawlessly.
Serving the internet is not as fast as on a PC (ofcourse) but is good enough for me to check my mail or need to google something. Not for extensive web serving of course. Maybe the more expensive models?
The most important thing of course is the phone. The sound of both sims are perfect.
And dialing is as it must be.
I have not found one fault with this phone after using it for 6 weeks now. But again I have to say, with the experience I had with the Airphone 4, this is just so good.
This time I took more time experimenting with the phone before posting a review. So it get the full 5 stars.

At first glance, the Prada phone looks like a great buy. Slide out keyboard and responsive touch screen. The interface is really pretty and for a user who doesn't customize their phone much, it probably works ok. It's in the details though that has me tearing my hair out and trying to resell it on ebay.
1) As far as I can tell, the contacts don't import automatically from Microsoft Outlook. You have to go through some *.csv conversion which is a pain. **Anyone know differently, please let me know via this forum!**
2) User interface is not stable, it's rebooted on me at least 5x in the past month when I'm doing random simple things like making a phone call.
3) They like their sounds too much and I can't figure out how to turn them off in normal mode! (i.e. sliding the keyboard in/out has a ringtone, which when you're trying to discreetly text, and you don't want your phone in silent mode, at dinner/meeting is impossible!)
4) The battery runs down relatively fast compared to my old Nokia n95, or maybe I'm just in bad reception areas a lot which impact my battery life?
I would assume a lot of these *features* would be fixed via software upgrade but I don't plan to wait around.

LG KG810 Unlocked Phone with Camera, and MP3/Video Player--International Version with Warranty (Black) Review

LG KG810 Unlocked Phone with Camera, and MP3/Video Player--International Version with Warranty (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The LG KG810 is a beautiful phone with a sleek design, great quality built, it feels solid and has many features.
This phone was bought to replace my old RAZR which fell in the pool - the size was smaller and the design very similar.
My usage of the phone is very basic...to make calls (no texting, MP3, camera, or Radio). The problem with the KG810 is that the battery life is so lousy that even for this basic function the phone is mediocre, I can't imagine how it would be if I used the features.
I normally leave the phone to charge overnight, within 3-4 hours after disconnecting it already (w/o making any calls) shows down one bar...by the end of the day two bars are missing...and it cannot survive the night. This is really impractical as I sometimes am on call at night and I wake up to a disconnected phone due to low battery. The RAZR would frequently last me 3-4 days and that would be with heavy usage.
Undoubtedly LG is not on the same level as Nokia, Motorola or Sony-Ericsson.

Presented in a clamshell design rather than as a slider, the LG KG810 continues the multimedia functionality and design characteristics of LG's award-winning line of Chocolate mobile phones. Boasting a smooth, polished black exterior that glistens with quality, the KG810 hides a color screen and touch-sensitive music buttons that lets you control your music whilst the phone is closed. All this and an FM radio, Bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel camera, mass storage device capabilities and more.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity (900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.
Using the successful touch sensitive technology used on the LG Chocolate KG800 (as the world's first on a mobile phone) the KG810 incorporates touch sensitive music controls on the exterior of the handset. These buttons glow red when active and will not activate by standard items touching them. With no physical buttons to clutter the exterior of the phone the KG810, at just 14.6mm thick, truly is a slender phone. Open the handset and you will discover a large, vibrant colour screen with an easy to use keypad.
The phone incorporates an interior color screen with 262,000 colours and a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels, as well as an external screen with a 96 x 96-pixel resolution and 65,000 colors. Use the internal or external screen as a viewfinder for the 1.3 megapixel camera. It supports Photo ID, so photos of contacts will appear on the screen as soon as they call, and you can customise your display with photos, wallpaper or Flash Lite based files.
The KG810's 1.3-megapixel digital camera features a flash, a 4x digital zoom, a multi shot mode, and a photo album feature. The camera also offers up to one-hour of video capture. When it's time for music, the Chocolate boasts a built-in music player with stereo speakers and an equalizer, offering MP3 and WMA playback, a feature which lets you keep your music playing in the background during a call. You can also take advantage of the Chocolate's Bluetooth wireless headset capability, allowing you to hook up a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones.
Connect the KG810 to a PC using the supplied USB cable and it will become a mass storage device. Drag and drop files such as music, photos, videos and more straight to the phone and you can carry them with you wherever you go. The KG810 has 128 MB of internal memory and no software is required for the PC--simply plug and play. Additionally, while the phone is connected to your PC, it will also charge too. Multimedia files are stored within the phone's memory; it does not include an expansion slot.
The KG810 boasts powerful calling functions, such as speaker independent voice dialing, which makes it easy to call contacts by simply saying their names. No prior voice training is required and you can even speak individual digits to the phone for quick dialing of numbers you know by heart. The phone's support for multimedia messaging means that text, photos, video and audio can be sent with ease. When used in combination with the KG810's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. The built in MMS editor allows the user to create convenient messaging templates for fast MMS messages, as well as the ability to create SMS messaging templates. And to make messaging even easier on the KG800, the phone comes stock with built-in T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets--a definite plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
Vital Statistics The LG KG810 weighs 3.03 ounces and measures 3.62 x 1.85 x 0.59 inches. Its 750 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 2.5 hours of talk time, and up to 200 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS frequencies. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.

I love this phone. I have no idea what the other reviewer is speaking of. I have had no such problem with the wifi feature. The phone works flawlessly on wi-fi OR 3G and the camera is awesome. The bluetooth syncs up with my headset and the music is awesome. The colors are great. The touch screen just right. There is honestly nothing I don't love about this phone.

The seller is ok, the delivery was fast, the content is as adverstised, BUT. This earhook is a poor match to my Jawbone ICON. Although one of the three earhook sizes in the package does fit it and can be put on, it sort of makes the earphone stick out so the earphone can't lay flat and stay pressed to my cheek which is necessary for better voice transmission. Tried to bend the earhook, doesn't help. Unfortunately, I will have to again order the original Jawbone ICON earloop which is way more expensive ($10 plus delivery for just one earloop, I'm not interested in their earplugs.)
Do not buy this if you need it for Jawbone ICON.

Blackberry Playbook 7-Inch Tablet (16GB) Review

Blackberry Playbook 7-Inch Tablet (16GB)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own the iPad 1. I like it. I don't love it. The apps are great. But it is large and cumbersome. It doesn't really multi-task. And I hate the way it handles email. I use a Blackberry Torch phone. I love the way it handles email. And the apps are very good. Fewer. But very good.
So it was with some trepidation and excitement I bought the Blackberry Playbook. The trepidation was because of the advanced reviews which universally panned it. I looked at it, held it, and bought it. And I will tell you it is one piece of stunning equipment.
The build is much better than the iPad. In fact it is extraordinary. The screen is absolutely stunning. The machine loads the applications fast but NOT as fast as you see on the commercials. The browser blows the iPad Safari browser out of the water. It is very fast and of course has Flash. The camera front and back are very good.
But do you know what makes this tablet? The OS. It is extraordinary. You bring out Apps with a touch. You scroll through open apps by beginning at the left or right bezel and swiping toward the center. The context menus are opened by swiping down when the application is open. See a subtle alert in the top left hand corner, swipe diagonally from the the bezel to the center and viola there is a notification of your email. To wake it up swipe from the top bezel to the bottom. No more clicking a darn button. Thank you Blackberry. That alone was genius.
As I said I carry a Blackberry so through the Blackberry Bridge it tethers to my Torch. Emails and files. Everything, except the apps (different OS of course) is available on my Playbook. And I don't have to add on a data plan for 3G. A 3G phone Playbook is coming out in the summer they say for those who do not carry Blackberry phones.
I am waiting for the following apps - Dropbox (although I can transfer files in and out via the web), a free hand note taker and a better PDF program or a more beefy Adobe Reader app. And I am sure they will come.
Now to the reviews: They claimed the OS was not finished. Not true. They claimed multiple shutdowns and freezes. Not true. They poo-poo'd tethering through Blackberry Bridge. OK I am saving myself $30 a month up here in Canada or $360 a year in not having a 3G capability under a separate plan. And the tethering is flawless for both email and web surfing since the Playbook comes with a Bridge Browser that uses your phones' plan. So a person saves $360 a year and it gets criticized? Unbelievable! The apps. Yes there are fewer but there are new ones appearing everyday and they are above average and to my mind are as good as or better than the iPad. The negative reviews are baffling; truly, truly baffling.
I couldn't wait to get the iPad. I was enchanted. With the new iPad 2 I wasn't enchanted. In fact it is anything but.
The Blackberry Playbook on the other hand is simply astounding. I throw it in my briefcase. And away I go. I pull it out at a meeting or airport and it is understated and private. Will it take its rightful place in the tablet market? Not if jingoistic reviewers have their way. But it should. It should if build, function, cost effectiveness, reliability, and fun mean anything to anybody.
