Yeah, I guess you could be upset that you didn't get some complimentary swag or whatever with this machine, but I didn't buy it for swag.
Let's get down to business, shall we?
Pluses: Gorgeous, smooth graphics in Star Trek Online, DDO, Champions Online and Team Fortress 2 with the sliders cranked just shy of the max. EAX sound is amazing: even sounds decent out of the built-in speakers (really rocks with my headphones though). CPU performance and multitasking is sweet and responsive. I have multi-surfed Word, Visual Studio and Photoshop CS with no lag or issues.
More ports than you can shake a stick at: plenty of USB, eSATA, FireWire (1394) and even HDMI (which outputs to full 1080p if that floats your boat). Bluetooth devices are easily paired. Amazing Windows 7 performance (rates a 5.9 Windows Experience out of the box, with 6.6s in graphics, before any tweaking)
This thing is a sweet PC for money.
Cons: Runs hot. Be sure to keep side vents for cooling free. Might be worth investing in a cooling mat for this bad boy. Also, can we please not pre-install a bunch of crap on our new, high-performance gaming machines? I had to uninstall a bunch of cheesey ASUS games and stuff before I could really get down to business.

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-PU17-BU 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook (Up to 14 Hours of Battery Life) Review

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-PU17-BU 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook (Up to 14 Hours of Battery Life)

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this little computer about a week ago and so far it has been great. So far I have not found anything to complain about with the computer so I will list a few of the things I like:
- Even with the extended capacity battery, the computer is very light and portable
- The battery life is great! My daughter watched movies for almost 8 hours on our plane ride home without a hitch or stutter. After being in use for nearly the entire flight, it still had 35% of the battery remaining. Another note on the battery, in the earlier 1005 netbooks, the battery would stick out past the screen on the rear of the netbook. That is no longer the case, on the 1005PE it is flush with the rear of the netbook.
- The keyboard is nice and decent size. I almost bought a Toshiba solely because I did not like the keyboard on the 1005HA version of this machine. Asus changed the keyboard on this model to a chiclet keyboard which is much better. I saw one review that thought the keyboard was flimsy. As far as I can tell, the Asus has no more flexibility in the keyboard than the Acer or Toshiba netbooks I looked at.
- Windows 7 starter and Asus Utility. I saw a few reviews where people complained about Win7 Starter. Again, so far no problems with the OS, it does what it is intended to do. As far as the complaints about changing the background on the desktop, Asus was kind enough to provide a utility that makes changing the background very easy.
- WLAN - since I bought the netbook, it has been in 6 locations that have wireless internet and it has jumped on the network easily each time regardless on encryption.
A couple more thoughts on netbooks in general:
- Netbooks are not desktop replacements or miniture laptops. They are intended to provide basic computing and internet needs. If you are expecting it to fly through huge power point presentations or apps that require a lot of RAM and processing power you will be disappointed. If all you need is a computer that travels easily and will allow you to surf the web, play music and video and run office programs, netbooks can be a very good choice.
- I would recommend that anyone who buys a netbook remove as much of the installed software as they can. I was able to remove alot of pre-loaded junk and the netbook ran faster. Here are a few program that I think every netbook should have: Firefox or Google Chrome for internet, vlc (Videolan) for music and movie playback, Open Office 3 for word processing, spreadsheets, etc and Foxit Reader for opening .pdf files.
Also, I have seen several recommendations to replace the 1GB Ram with a 2GB stick. I have not done this yet and it still works great. At the moment I have a 4GB SD card installed to see if there are any performance gains using the Windows Reafyboost function. So far so good.
The bottom line is that this netbook has exceeded my expectations and is a solid little machine. I would recommend it to anyone in search of a good netbook.

This is an extremely short post.
This is the phone the Nokia N96 dreamed of becoming.
The battery life is nearly twice that of the N96. Granted, I'm not in a 3G coverage area (it's not even supported in the US for this phone, just EDGE), but I can last at least 2 days per charge with heavy browsing, music listening, and "messing around" for a few hours, on this device.
Symbian S60 is an awesome OS, but it is beginning to show its age (especially after coming from an iPhone). However, Symbian is my favorite OS by far, but perhaps that is largely biased by my "geeky" figure-it-out-as-you-go nature. Now, it isn't HARD to use, it's just not as user friendly as some of the newer, more mainstream devices are. And this isn't a problem at all for me. The third party app. development for S60 is strong as ever. Immediately after unboxing, I installed both a p2p and a torrent app. This is a pretty amazing and convenient feature, for a phone. Granted, I have not used Windows Mobile, but I'm sure there are similar apps available for that as well. However, finding and installing those apps was very easy and non-problematic on the i8510's S60 OS. Not to mention, there are thousands of more useful apps available for your perusal (but they may take some effort to find; there is no "App Store" for easy-as-biscuits app-discovery and installation).
The hardware on this phone is amazing. It has an optical mouse for true, PC-like web browsing. Long gone are the days of using a 4-way directional pad for choppy and slow browsing on the included WebKit browser. With the optical mouse, the web is smooth and flowly to browse. And the sensitivity is easily alterable as per your own personal preference. I opted to increase the sensitivity vastly, which makes it even easier to use. Unlike most high-end Nokia phones (excluding some of the E-series), a good amount of hard, sexy metal is employed in the device design. This both makes it very sturdy as well as visually and tactically appealing to the fingers. Perhaps one of the few things Apple does right is incorporate metal into their devices; the new Macbooks being a prime example. I am very happy that this is being more generously applied to other electronics by other manufacturers now, and I hope it continues.
The camera is insatiable. It is 8 megapixels, which is high, but as they say, megapixels aren't everything. This is true. However, the camera quality is basically unrivaled in the phone arena. Some Sony Ericsson models aren't too shy of equality in this matter, and I think most of them have Xenon flash (which is amazing). Unfortunately the i8510 does not use Xenon, but LED flash instead. This is definitely acceptable, but for its price tag one would expect the highest of standards to be employed. The Nokia N82 is a very, very close second contender for the "best" Camera-Smartphone in my opinion. And I have owned one previously. Onto more of the things this camera does superbly, it employs a mechanical shutter. This is both very safe for the internal lens, and very cool. When you initiate the camera app., the shutter opens automatically. When you are finished, it closes automatically. Beautiful.
Other insanely useful qualities include WiFi, GPS, an external memory slot, a removable battery, and a gorgeously large 2.8inch 16M color display. In comparison to the iPhone (it can hardly be resisted nowadays, sorry), it trumps it almost unanimously in all of these aspects, exclusive of WiFi. They are both equal. GPS, memory slot, and removable battery, on the other hand, are all destroyed on the iPhone by the i8510. The GPS chip in the iPhone is fine, except for the software on the device is severely limiting. There is no voice navigation. This is ridiculous for such a "premium" device. The S60 OS of the i8510 allows for employment of third party applications (and there are already a couple) which offer voice-assisted navigation. Some of them are even free. An external memory slot is greatly valuable in a mobile phone, which the iPhone does not offer. The i8510's memory capacity is dramatically increased by this. I believe the highest capacity the device can "theoretically" (Samsung claims it is 16GB) support is 32GB. I have read a few reviews confirming tests with this result. Either way, 16GB + 16GB > iPhone 4/8/16GB. Not to mention the cards are hot-swappable; you can use more than one flash card and basically claim unlimited capacity in the i8510, only limited by the number of cards you have laying around. This is quite cool. A removable battery is something that has long plagued the iPhone for it not having one. You are free to modify and change it when you see fit. If you start seeing noticable decreases in battery performance, buy a new one. Hell, keep the old one as a spare fully-charged unit for when you are on a long trip. Just this trick alone beats the user-limiting non-removable battery of the iPhone. Apple is known for being quite restrictive of their consumers' freedoms. Symbian S60 is the exact opposite, and the hardware on the i8510 agrees as well.
Having DivX support is a plus, although XviD support would have been nice as well. Why stop at plain old DivX? There have also been reports of certain DivX encodings not working at all on the i8510. I have yet to experience this, but please be aware.
The build of the i8510 is stellar. It feels fantastic in the hand; the pictures do not do the device justice. Again, it incorporates a large amount of metal, both apparent in the back of the device and the keypad, as well as other key highlight locations. It is an extremely sturdy and durable design; there are no creaks or cracks/pops when you fondle the device. On my old Nokia N82 I heard all sorts of cracks and creaks when handling the device; this is the complete opposite on the i8510. Samsung really did a phenomenal job with the construction of the unit. I imagine the device can take a fair amount of abuse before showing any audible signs of it.
One small issue concerning the display is its lack of respectable readability in strong rays of sunlight. Many high-end Nokia models with similar (but admittedly lesser) specifications employ screens which are much more readable in direct sunlight than the i8510. Granted, I don't imagine most users will find themselves blinded by sunlight, but maybe that's just me. I seem to be taking more pictures at night (Xenon, please) than out and about in direct sunlight with my i8510.
Another area of note is the availability of software (firmware, specifically) updates for the i8510. I, and from most of what I've read so far, most other i8510 users are unsure of how often and how effectively Samsung will deliver firmware updates for the device. I know there are ways to update your phone to the more current firmware "unofficially," but this has its risks. Granted, I do not see any current issues with my firmware that warrant an immediate and emergency firmware update, but that could very well be due to the vast amount of my dorkiness and contentness with the amazingness of the phone in its out-of-box state. Your mileage may vary. However, it can only get better with updates.
I am extremely pleased with this phone (it makes phone calls too?!). For me, the only thing I wish it had was US 3G capabilities. Again, I don't live in an area with 3G access, but it would be nice if an investment of this stature warranted more longevity in my usage of it. EDGE data speeds are very, very acceptable for me though. Data-intensive web pages still load in a snap, and there is always the option of employing the WiFi chip for faster speeds, if applicable.
Aside from the 3G issue, everything else "wrong" with the device are very, very minute details. A lot of them are going to be remedied with firmware updates. On Samsung's website, they claim an update to be due by the end of 2008 or Q1 2009. Very agreeable, in my opinion, given how new the phone is.
This phone is a winner, and should definitely be considered over all Nokia N-series devices, with exception of the Nokia N85. From there, it is personal preference, and the i8510 stands out as the clear top-end champion of the smartphone/cameraphone arena.

This is the 3rd edition of the Palm Pre. Gone is the shiny rounded plastic screen. Say hello to Gorilla Glass - same as the iPhone. Clock speed of the CPU is double that of the previous Pre and Pre+ models. This thing is fast, and yet the battery life improves with the more efficient processor.
All of the batteries, cases, and and accessories from older versions still work.
This is still the only phone that charges wirelessly. Just set it on the magnetic Touchstone base, and you won't ever buy something that needs a cable again.
5 minutes to learn 5 gestures and you have full command of the phone. Effortless one-handed use. Excellent keyboard slides out of the way when you don't want it.
Best kept secret in the business. Get one!

Apple Mac mini M9687LL/B (1.42 GHz PowerPC G4, 512 MB DDR SDRAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Drive) Review

Apple Mac mini M9687LL/B (1.42 GHz PowerPC G4, 512 MB DDR SDRAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Drive)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Mac Mini was released in January 2005 at Mac World, and was then updated, for the first time, in July 2005. This Mac Mini is the result of that update.
Improvements - The $599 Mac Mini now sports 512 MB of DDR SDRAM, which is twice the memory the original Mac Mini included. This is a significant upgrade. The majority of users can now buy, out of the box, a machine that performs beautifully and allows a fair amount of multi-tasking. The Mac operating system, Mac OS X Tiger, thrives on memory, and 512 MB helps to create a speedy experience, for users.
Bluetooth - Bluetooth is a great wireless technology that Apple heavily backs, and it is included with this Mac Mini, an addition, from the original Mac Minis, when bluetooth was an optional add-on, at Apple.com, for $50 more. Purchase a bluetooth keyboard or bluetooth mouse, and they will work wirelessly, with your Mac Mini. It makes for a very clean and uncluttered desktop. There are also many mobile phones and PDAs, which utilize bluetooth technology, which you can sync to your mac using isync, included with Mac Mini.
Airport Extreme - This is the wireless networking card now included with the $599 Mac Mini, after being a $70+ upgrade at Apple.com, on the previous model. Do you have a wireless-b or wireless-g network in your home? If so, the Mac Mini will be able to connect to it, without problem. Again, making the computing experience simpler and less tangled.
The Good Things that Continue to Shine with Mac Mini - A buyer of the Mac Mini will continue to enjoy Mac OS X Tiger, which is the best consumer operating system in the world. It works with the hardware beautifully to provide a simple, fast, elegant, and reliable experience. One of the favorite descriptions of Mac fans, to describe Macs, is simply, "it just works."
The Mac Mini continues to include iLife '05, with great applications such as iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, iTunes, and Garageband. These are all included, with every Mac Mini. You will be challenged to find any PC that includes applications that come anywhere close to the iLife suite. Manage thousands of your digital images in iPhoto, create home movies in iMovie, and create professional music in Garageband.
Appleworks is included for simply word processing, spreadsheets, etc., but you might want to pick up Microsoft Office for Mac. A student/teacher edition is available, for just over $100.
Speed - The 1.42 GHZ PowerPC G4 processor makes the Mac Mini a very capable machine. This will satisfy the horsepower needed to complete tasks in the iLife suite, included with your Mac Mini.
Hard Drive - 80 GB is a significant-sized hard drive, so you will be able to store thousands of photos and songs.
ComboDrive - The Apple Combo Drive allows you to burn music and data CDs, plus you can watch DVDs!
Drawbacks? The $599 version of the Mac Mini no longer includes a modem, if you want this version of the Mac Mini with a modem, you will have to custom-order it at Apple.com. However, the ethernet port is included on the back, to plug into a DSL or cable modem, plus you have the Airport Extreme, for wireless connections. However, if you don't have broadband, you'll need a modem for dial-up, so you will either need to order a custom-built Mac Mini at Apple.com, or buy the stock $499 model, which includes a modem, but lacks the wireless components.
Overall, Apple has created another fantastic product, with the Mac Mini, and the July 2005 update only made it better. You get more memory, plus wireless connectivity via bluetooth and airport extreme. This Mac Mini really includes everything the average user needs to enjoy the internet, manage his or her digital life, and have fun doing it all.

Dell Inspiron i14R-1708MRB 14-Inch Laptop (Mars Black) Review

Dell Inspiron i14R-1708MRB 14-Inch Laptop (Mars Black)

I'm not a fan of Dell's because of bad reviews and bad customer support. My first three choices would be toshiba, sony vaio and hp. I had returned 2 toshiba M series because of the noisy fan issue, and a sony vaio due to irratic touchpad and lid issue. Later, This one came up here in amazon with a good price deal and packed with the features that I need. All I can say is, I am happy with my purchase.
Pros: fast, quiet, style, comfy keyboards (best if you have small hands), dedicatd playback keys, good speakers( way better than sony vaios but not greater than toshiba M series harman kardon's), bluetooth, 1.3 pixel webcam, good battery life, intel i3 processor, fairly light, good touchpad.
Cons: Very nice finish but.. (fingerprints and smudges welcome), so-so graphics (comparable to hp dm4, but better. If your doing some photo editing the results can be slightly unprecise or unaccurate.. well it's a laptop), no blu-ray, unlighted keyboard.

Wrapped in curvy edges and smooth lines, the Dell Inspiron 14R in mars black (model i14R-1708MRB) seamlessly travels by your side without getting in your way. It features a 14-inch high-definition display and it weighs less than 5 pounds--perfect for taking along on your commute. The full-size, ergonomically designed keyboard gives your fingers plenty of space to stretch out and get comfortable, and you'll also appreciate the brushed metal appearance of the smudge-proof palm rest.
