(More customer reviews)It is a good phone without needing any reboots or restart after getting stuck like many other phones. It is very good for my specific use.
Pros:
1. Small size, fits completely in a fist.
2. Small screen, hence less battery consumption. But not that efficient as w580i.
3. Qwerty keyboard is very helpful for my frequent note-taking.
4. Superior and trusted Sony music quality and equipment.
5. All regularly available apps present or can be added free of cost from market.
6. Good speaker phone and volume. No problems.
7. Long panning screen with widgets and menu.
8. good camera but slow to start.Cons:
1. The built in theme is not very good. It is all blue and not changeable.
2. Camera doesn't start quickly.
3. Music player is horrendous, can't make any playlists.
4. Non-micro-usb data and charging cable. Sony is not eco friendly, adds more and more wires instead of using the std. usb cable like motorola.
5. touch screen is sometimes sluggish.
6. Need to remove backplate to remove the SD card.

(More customer reviews)This was my first smartphone. The apps of the android system are great, but if you download many of them your system is likely to crash a lot. The touchscreen may be cool at first, but sometimes simple tasks such as dialing or saving a number may become annoying, especially if the system gets slower and slower due to apps. The battery life is not too good. I have to recharge the phone daily even if I didn't make a long phone call. I am satisfied with the camera, which produces very good photos in my opinion. What makes this phone great is its size, look and the camera. Although the size makes this phone pretty handy, the touchscreen and the system may not be very convenient especially for basic usage such as phone calls and sms. All in all, I still like it but I think I should have bought the version with integrated keypad.

(More customer reviews)This is nice hardware. It works well with AT&T in the USA. There's no Android upgrade for it. Sony Ericsson (SE) put out a press release in October say upgrades to Android 2.1 had started. If that was not a bold-faced lie, there's a sin of omission because my X10 mini is no upgrade available according to the PC software SE put out. There's no Mac equivalent of this software either :-(
Upgrade is out now (Dec 24th). Had to update PC-Companion software first. First time through my internet connection died while the newer PC-Companion software downloaded Android 2.1. Inexplicably the 1.6firmware on the phone is wiped before the 2.1 version is downloaded. Thus my phone is presently bricked. After reconnecting and starting over with the non-functioning X10-mini, I am stuck on [...]. How long should I wait here SonyEricsson ? An hour? A day ?
Update Jan/2011: Its upgraded now. Had to try multiple times to get the PC Companion to push Android 2.1 onto it. It works well now. Sim swapping between UK and US is easy. 3G works. Much much cheaper in the UK (Virgin) than the US for a 3g pay as you go service. I even got tethering working so I could use it on the train over Xmas.
It is sad to hear there will be no 2.2 update for Android for this phone.
Feb 12: Software Update failed 3x. I have a decent connection to the internet, and was not running anything else at the time. Why can't the Sony Ericsson software tell me why the update failed ?
Mar15: Software update worked. This time the PC installer updated itself too. That was on the third attempt though. For a month now the volume level the supplied headphones has been too low to hear at full volume. I've googled for causes but can't find any. I'll see if new headphones work for it.
Apr 3: It is not the headphones, its the phone. The headphones (and replacements) work fine in other devices (like a MacBook). The loudspeaker is plenty loud enough in the phone, but the output to the headphones is whisper quiet at full volume. I'm going to try to get Sony to repair it, even though it's six months old.

So unto my complaints first:
- short battery life! I have to bring the charger with me wherever I go.
- easily unlocks but hard to unlock with the touch screen pattern if you don't use tactile feedback. it feels like a glitch.
- no Up and Down directional arrows, only Left and Right. what's up with that?
- touchscreen is activated during call, which enables the fone to "face dial" or dial with your cheeks.
- not stylus compatible, or you have to touch it a certain way
- Using the native messaging app, you can only MMS one picture at a time
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, here's what I love about it.
- The four corner, main screen application shortcuts are so handy. You don't have to flip through pages upon pages of your applications.
- Timescape, having all my friend's feeds in on area.
- Camera produces good quality pics
- "IM style" messaging
- sturdy construction, I've dropped it several times already and it still functions like it's supposed to. screen isn't even scratched yet. I was weary about this one since my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Unlocked Phone with U.S. 3G, GPS with Free Voice Navigation, Wi-Fi, and 4 GB MicroSD Card--U.S. Version with Warranty (Black) got so easily scratched up.
- compact size, it's so cute but so functional and useful as well.
- Sony Ericsson finally caved in with using micro SD HC, finally! I ordered this from Amazon with slight hesitation because it's an international version.
The box is so small and contained the bare essentials.
Phone, 2GB memory card already installed, international charger with adapter, earphones, and some paper with info on the phone.
I checked the version right away and was surprised to see that it's already the 2.1 Android.
This phone works with AT&T but can only use Edge and not 3G, I repeat, it does not run 3G.
Which might be the deal breaker for some people but for those of us with a little more patience, it's actually still faster than dial-up.
I can run Pandora radio and sync my email at the same time.

Google Voice - if you have a Google number, really useful app

Camera360 UI - if you like putting effects on your pictures

(More customer reviews)I don't know where to start but let's start first about the cheap (although light wight) materials that SonyErcson used to build this phone compared to the iPhone4 which feels like a Bugatti compared to SonyErcson !
Moreover, Sony is known by making the best LCD monitors but they did a bad job in building the Arc screen which looks like that it came from the 70's compared to the iPhone4 "Retina display".
As for the camera sony claims that is an 8MP which i figured out it delivers the worst shots I ever seen in terms of shooting response! If you try an iphone4 cam you will know exactly what I'm talking about ! A leica camera compared to maybe a fujesto crappy camera!!! And Ohh! not mentioning that it doesn't have a front camera!!! :(
The reason why I'm giving it 2 stars is one the 4 inch screen which I see it very nice and a star for Android which is ok especially the screen wedges but still light years behind Apple iOS.
Android OS has lots of tweaks and settings to play with but eventually you will find that you don't need them! and it laggs ur smartphone.
PS: The reason why I bought the SonyErcson Arc is cuz i was sick and tired from using an iPhone and i wanted a change, a new blood of handset in my pocket!

PROS:The phone works great.
CONS:The only problem is the low battery life, even with all funtions off it last only one day. Most cell phones last at least 2 days.
Also the camera has practically no functions. Pictures and video and thats it. No serial pictures, no zoom, to name a few.
